Manchester City have women the Women's Super League. Surely it's time United set up a women's team? (self.reddevils)

In a world where women's football is getting more and more attention and plaudits - and where clubs are signing professional bloody video gamers - it's kind of embarrassing and disappointing that we aren't competing in women's football.

We're arguably the most famous club in the world with one of the largest fan bases in the world, surely we should be competing on every front possible - especially if there's an opportunity to stuff a City, Arsenal or Scum team. Hell, we were all debating about how Giggs & Butt could get best managing experience and if having the youth squads is consistent. Give our future manager - who ever they are - a women's squad to build and rise through the ranks!

This question comes up so much, but man utd is a business traded on the stock exchange, until a women's team would be self sustaining the club obviously feel it's not a good business choice

This. The question is always asked and the answer is the same, womans football isn't a big deal and would be a drain of money and a negative part of the brand.

That's about as useless as training to be a pole vaulter when you actually hope to be a curling professional.

Tactics/fitness/training and every single aspect differ a fair bit and at the professional level, by tenfold or more in terms of physical expectations and such. All their training needs to be revamped to certain extents just to accommodate the physical differences and more.

Yeah, didn't they come to the U18 finals last year or something? Why don't they just give all those girls a contract and enroll them in a league, if they get all the way up to the women premier league then you have established a womans team. I don't understand how this can hurt the Manchester United brand in the long run.

The more profiles a brand have, given that be Zlatan Ibrahimovich or some other girl who is a good football player, shirtsale would only increase right? and revenue from matches or even price money if they establish a good enough womens team.

Perhaps because it doesn't have the proper infrastructure. If given the proper opportunities it could improve and if Manchester United backed them it could only improve!
