That 3 game losing streak might have been necessary in the grander scheme of things. It gave Mourinho justification to drop Rooney in the Leicester game. Hope we can kick on from here. Rooney definitely still has a part to play in the squad—best put by both Souness and Neville in the post match analysis - Rooney can still play a big part in terms of showing professionalism and setting an example for the younger ones in the squad.

Been a while since we smashed a team, love it!

Can't wait to get Mkhitaryan properly involved. If him and Martial find some form soon we'll be deadly and have so many options.

Same XI should definitely be starting against Stoke at OT, but what about Liverpool away? How do we solve the midfield question? 4-3-3 and recall Rooney?

Also, it kinda sucks that we're only 6th. Early days and all that, but it's gonna be a MEGA competitive league this year.

i don't think we can play liverpool with 433,we would get smashed..

i believe the best option is playing 4231 with herrera and fellaini or herrera and carrick playing as the defensive mids with pogba playing as number 10.

Scoring off of 3 corners was absolutely tremendous, we clearly did our homework on Leicester before the game.

Blind was absolutely outstanding at LB and just furthers his statement as to why he should be starting every game where possible.

Herrera's game left me speechless. Such leadership in midfield and for someone who loves to get forward, he was outstanding in front of the back line and very composed.

All in all an absolutely fan fucking tastic performance all round bar the goal, but as Andy Gray used to say, you don't stop those! Oh, and Pogba shut up a few thousand, so that was nice too!

Aside from whether Rooney should start big matches or not, Blind should always be on corner duty.

Seems to be one of a few players in the PL that can get the ball over the front man consistently. Also he's clever and can pick out runs (like Mata's).

Rooney can do these things too, but he's not as consistent, and he is a good header of the ball so might as well have him in the box.

*Herera was so influential in the game. Just sitting back and covering for Mata and Pogba who loves to roam forward. Also Bailly was really good, picking up vardy, it was like vardy wasnt even playing, and credit for Smalling and Bailly. Also blind had a good game, going forward at times, also covering mahrez really well. *We only let in 1 goal, at time points we were suspect at the back. They were times where we let 1 opponent unmarked at the end of box, these seems easy, but we need to improve on these simple mistakes.. overall good game. *Good pressing from Rashford and Lingard, pressing them back in there half. And nice 1/2 touch football that unlocked Mata goal.

First time in a long time seeing united play good fast free flowing attacking football.i think mou might have had a vision of the formula we need, now who would mikhi replace when he returns? mata or lingard? would herrera be able to handle his position alone on big games? What do you guys think of a partnership between herrera and carrick with pogba playing as a number 10?

One thing I have noticed is that valencia has gone back to shit-crossing mode again

90% of his crosses hit the first man or miss everyone and go out of play

But he is the only RB we currently have that poses some sort of attacking threat to the opposition. Would like to see him try and pass the ball to the edge of the box instead of always attempting crosses.

Hard pressing by the opposition LB and sometimes with even the LM makes crossing extremely difficult. When Lingard is playing on the RW he tends to drift off a lot, leaving Valencia alone on the flank, hence having nobody to help create space for him. So cut the man some slack. The fact that he even attempted a decent left foot cross against Leicester speaks loads about the man's confidence at this moment.

And at least he's getting into good positions to get crosses in. Even if its blocked, we still get a corner kick. But I do acknowledge he can work on the variety of his crosses. Sometimes a ground cross in at the byline will work wonders with a roaming Rashford in the box.

Don't really agree that Bailly & Smalling "covered" for Herrera, Mata and Pogba. They are defenders, they defended. Leicester just concede the midfield battle tactically most of the time.

I still don't think this is our best formation, or what we'll settle on. I'd love to see Blind distributing infront of Smalling/Bailly and behind a Herrera/Pogba duo, i really think that would bring the best out of all of those mentioned.

With Shaw/Mkhitaryan/Martial to come back and add bags of pace to this team, it looks tasty. But I feel we need to find that consistent best team and really stick with it, and let an aggressive style of play develop.

More so than individuals this season, City/Pool have an effective team style going on. We need to match them for conviction in finding a consistent game plan that works for us.

In my opinion, the calm and assured Blind playmaking from deep with two physical, fast cb's behind him and two skillful, hard running midfielders infront looks the way to go. Add in pace from wide with Shaw/Martial/Memphis/Valencia/Mkhi, we should have the tools to facilitate an attractive style of play whilst remaining solid as Mou prefers.

Sorry, I didn't say that they did cover for them but that that midfield looked much happier going forwards and I think some of it was that Smalling and Bailly (two very quick and physical defenders) were behind them.
