I think this sub and the media are getting a little too carried away.

We scored 3 out of 4 goals from corners, I don't think this had anything to do with Rooney getting dropped. We are generally piss poor from corners, and on another day we could have finished this game at 1-1 or lost 1 nil.

What was Mou mad with Shaw about? Anywho, I'd be happy with Blind as a back up LB and CB when needed in rotation. I'm sure Blind will get a lot of starts again this season - so consistent and his passing is second to none.

Anybody who uses the 'it was just 3 corners' argument didn't watch the game, in my opinion. There's nothing in the OP that suggests he did anything other than read a report of the game.

The performance of several people was much better, as was the interplay, the tempo, the chances created. On another day we may not have scored from 3 corners but we'd have put away 3 of our other good chances. We were good value for the lead.

We also didn't attack as much in the second half because we didn't need to, we had the lead, a 4 goal lead, and Leicester had nothing to lose from throwing men forward. If we didn't score the corners we'd have gone into half time at 1-0 and come back out attacking as well as we ended the first half. As it was, it was savvy to sit deeper and try to counter, rather than continually throwing 4 or 5 men forward everytime we got the ball.

How can you say it had zero to do with Rooney when, iirc, he's the one that usually takes them. This isn't even getting into the game as a whole, which I think was positively affected by him not playing. At different times it looked like a completely different side.

Maybe because Rooney is utter shite at them and he keeps taking them.

Our general play was way better without Rooney and Fellaini, don't just look at the goals. Our passing was better and quicker now that we didn't have Fellaini and Rooney holding us back. Fellaini is useless passing wise and Rooney isn't much better, and no those useless 50 yards hollywood passes don't make him good at passing.

Also what's wrong with being good at corners? Those goals still count, look at Chelsea in 14/15 under Mourinho where goals from corners were massive for them and Atletico the last couple of years were corners and set pieces brought them to 2 CL finals and a title.

Blind's delivery in general was quite good yesterday but we attacked the corners better too. Smalling and Pogba both imposed their height and strength well (for instance in the game against Watford Smalling had a couple of free headers from Rooney set pieces but was poor in both cases).

Overall our general play too was much better though.

Well. Lets take away those 3 goals in those what could have been logic. Then theres still that Ibra-Rashford counter attack, that strong Pogba shot from far, that beautiful pass and volley from Pogba and Ibra. What if those had gone in instead then? By your logic we wouldve won by either 7-1 or 4-1 still.

You somewhat have a point, whilst I enjoyed yesterday (the first half), the second half was dire again after Leicester switched their formation. Granted we eased up but we didn't have much creativity against packed defenses and that's where we struggle.

Did Leceister get their first half tactics wrong or did we simply outplay them and would have done regardless of formation? Hard to say.

If we play like this for another 2 or 3 games then I will believe it was not just a one off. Under LVG we had many false dawns so i'm not getting carried away.

Thoroughly enjoyed the game yesterday though and agree that Rooney should not be in the team. Fellaini will be useful in some games though.
