The fact he wears #7 isn't a reflection of his potential, more of LVGs lack of respect for the shirt. He should've joined with a different number and earned that shirt.

Two good games against piss poor opposition in Braga and FC Midtjylland don't warrant starting in the PL.

I'd love for him to be successful but he needs to earn it, Rashford has earned a starting place by delivering off the bench against top-flight opposition.

Can we please stop with this attitude of "Memphis needs to play" just because he's brandable, young and expensive. It counts for nothing if he delivers *** all in the PL when given chances - there's plenty of other players who deserve that position over him. Martial, Lingard and Rashford can all play there and have done a hell of a lot more to deserve a spot that Memphis Depay.

Memphis does need to play, and not for those reasons you've stated. If he's in the squad he should start games from time to time. All we've seen from him is being subbed in (usually when we're struggling), putting in 'effort', then skying balls.

He should play games from the off so that we can see early on if he's going to be shite and a liability and can get someone on for him. And if he's not going to be shite, then it'll bode well for his confidence and then we've got even better depth.

i reckon people were only calling to start memphis when it looked like we were gonna implode but now we've won 2 in a row and i think everyones calmed down and wanting to start Rashford or martial.

Disagree wholeheartedly. Memphis played well (didn't set the world alight yes), but imo was our best offensive player against Northampton mid-week. He made good decisions, took on his man, didn't give the ball away, and was a more aware Rooney away from having an assist. You can say it was against poor completion but you say that he "needs to earn it." At the very least I thought his performance earned a spot on the bench for LC

IMO, supporters should want to see players, epscislly young player, succeed. It doesn't matter that he's marketable and expensive. He's a United player and I want him to do well. I think he has something to offer the team, and he needs confidence in order to do so. He hasn't been "given the chances" that others have. 5min in a game we're trailing doesn't count as a chance.
