Sorry about the delay folks. I was waiting on an official announcement from my employer. Which happened today.

Just over two weeks ago, I handed in my notice at the company in London where I work.

And 9 days from now on the 12th of February I’ll become a Youtuber full time!

Massive thank you everybody, especially to my Patreon backers and Twitch subscribers! I’m absolutely ecstatic and humbled by your generosity and I can’t thank you enough for turning this into a thing. And all completely free of partnership, advertising and other insidious corporate bollocks. Amazing!

And a huge thank you to my Zero Fucks clan mates. Without whom none of this could have been possible. You've given me an opportunity to break off into a new career and with you I feel I have finally found my tribe. I love you guys (with varying levels of homo) and I can't wait to hang out more with you in the future!

Honest I never expected this side hobby to get this far. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all.

I'll do a proper announcement video closer to the time.

For now though, brace yourself!

      Most kind of you, thank you. Basically the best way would be pledge a couple of dollars on Patreon. It's a crowd-funding thing that a lot of Youtubers use.

      That way you can keep me fed and watered. And in exchange I'll keep making content :)

      Edit - please consider supporting other Youtubers on Patreon if you're able. I certainly have. Youtube's advert reliant, content ID thing is just bullshit for everyone. Patreon is much more reasonable. And only takes a modest 5% cut for themselves (for comparison, Twitch.tv takes a whopping 50%...yeah!)

      Correct, yes.

      Just to put that in perspective:

      • Twitch take 50% of a streamer's subscriber donations.
      • Youtube take 45% of partnership income (I'm not actually sure though, don't take my word for it. I'm not a partner)
      • Patreon take 5% of donations

      So, kudos to Patreon there. They're being bros to content creators.

      I want to support you Soviet. The problem to me is that Patreon support is linked to the number of videos you make. I would be much happier doing one-time donations twitch-style, but obviously you don't wanna surrender money to The Man. Maybe you could make a donation paypal account?       A quick FYI though. You're right about Patreon pledges being "per video". But you are asked to set a monthly hard cap on donating, and I encourage you to do so.

      For example when I pledge to Extra Credits for $2, I set it to "one pledge a month". Meaning even if they make six videos in March, it would only ever donate $2.

      I'd much rather you pledge $1 over 10 months, rather than $10 in March. Since lots of people doing that makes a whole salary and then I can focus on drinking and snogging hot women on the mouth parts making Youtube videos without worrying that a particular month might be a harsh one.

        Correct. The few ads that are there are automatically activated by the content bots detecting 10 seconds of Enya or whatever. And I can't disable those.

        I personally despise adverts. I long for a time when we can just browse the internet, watch films and walk down the street without constantly being SOLD things.

        I was having a conversation with someone at work last week. A developer who I highly respect and consider to be way smarter than I am.

        I he said something like "oh...like <advert name>". Referencing some jingle on some advert he'd heard. Then later in that same week, I mentioned the detection of a possible extra gas giant in our solar system the week before, and he drew a blank.

        In my personal opinion, when our limited mental storage abilities are being used to record utterly irrelevant product jingles at the expense of important and once-in-a-life-time discoveries for our race, there's a problem :(

        It's just the lack of ads to be honest. I never had an objective to go full time or anything. Eventually the guys talked me into making a Patreon thing in case people wanted to fling me the odd tip for my work. Which is still very kind of them.

        Then after the first CSGO bullshittery video, it exploded massively. And now here we are :)

        Absolutely. I've yet to work this out properly, but how this is how I'm hoping it'll go:

        • Weekends will be as they are now. Sporadic streaming/editing.
        • Then Monday to Friday while the guys are at work, I'll be editing.
        • Then when they start arriving home, stream and play various games with them.

        So I'll be available to stream much more frequently and at regular times :)

        The thing is that Womble's channel can be compared to VanossGaming channel, which basically gathers around many other youtubers and makes that the base content. I'm not saying that Womble's not a funny guy - he is (with his own 'brand' and signature girl laugh) - but this won't get far (like 1 million subs) without people like Cyanide, Moley, Edberg, Echo, Pheonix, Quebeq, Blair, Stealth and others. This whole collaboration makes this a great content.
        That's my two cents.

        It's not my intention to make a 'brand' or start going solo or anything like that. Full time simply means I can hang out with my clan members on the weekdays, and edit videos while they're at work. Dramatically increasing the opportunities for bullshittery to happen and for me to edit it together. As at the moment, I only ever see them on the weekends.

        As that's all it is really. The videos are just compilations of stuff that happens as I play with people I meet in game :)

          Oh god, I totally overdid it last time. It was the first time I'd ever really "done shots" (despite being 29). So I sort of assumed the alcohol would incapacitate me before I drank anything close to a dangerous amount.

          I was wrong. And my deaths in CSGO too frequent. An hour after the game ended, 18+ shots kicked in and I was in a lot of pain.

          Aye, the former I'm afraid.

          To be honest though it was always hard to join because it's much less a proper clan and more just a group of friends from DayZ. It was never really a case of joining it, and more bumping into random people in DayZ and finding they're 37, like drinking whiskey and give zero fucks about anything.

          At that point we give them the clan tags.

          That's about it. Always just been a group of mates, to be honest.

          No risk of this one getting flooded with 13 years olds. Because there's no recruitment policy for them to even use :)

          So four years ago I was in game dev (though it was just QA ) in a third-party testing studio that primarily focused on localizing consoles. Examples back then were things like Oblivion and Republic Commando. After that, I started working in London for more of a mobile/tablet/web development studio as part of an in-house dev team.
