Well, this makes me sad. Ginger has always been pretty chill about Reddit and popped in with interesting insights here and there. I always appreciate the queens (mainly her, Willam, and Darienne) who pop into Reddit. So many queens just see the site as a cesspool, but any site has the same douchebags on it. They're on multiple platforms. I guess with twitter etc, though, it's easier to ignore because you can block.

We love you! I don't know why this sub has gone so quickly from defending Phi Phi to cackling about her. RPDR seems to create the highest of high situations for some queens and leaves others forgotten or turned into a joke. But there are always fans out there who see through the drama and appreciate the queens for their talent. Unfortunately, those voices get drowned out.

Ginger, please know I adore you and you have a great voice. How can this PhiPhi mess be blamed on editing? PhiPhi is on camera actually saying some pretty rude and hateful things. The editors didn't put the words in her mouth. Roxxxy said in the first episode that she had to own things she wishes she had not said during her season because she actually said them, it wasn't editing. PhiPhi just needs to lay low for awhile.

I agree with what she says, off seasons are better. Its more a time of celebration, while on season people like to jump on the band wagon of negativity. The sheep fans are here and that's when the mob mentality is at its highest.

Death threats aren't the only way to bring queens down and sometimes receiving an empty death threat isn't as hard to swallow then a dissertation on why you suck at what you do as a career. I love me some Minj and would love to have her around but If this is negative for her then she should walk away from it. Of all the queens on the show, the one queen with creditable opinions on Reddit is Ginger because she is the only frequent user.

The problem isn't that there's some giant conspiracy to make Phi Phi look like an asshole for no reason, it's that reality TV audiences tend to overreact and act like fools towards people they don't like - and it's getting pretty clear that Phi Phi is going through a lot of difficult internal shit and the reactions of thousands of strangers won't make that any easier for her to work through.

Yeah, I think Phi Phi's reaction may be big because so many people have been insane towards her.

I'm not sure what exactly is fueling this meltdown, but I think people having these crazy reactions and feelings like it's ok to comment and tweet crazy stuff to her may contribute.

When the reaction of the fans is huge, a Queen's response will probably be huge, especially one who seemed so invested in getting a certain edit.

There's a difference between defending someone's behaviour (which I haven't seen much of) and not taking any joy in strangers insulting and making fun of the ongoing breakdown of somebody you know. Phi Phi as a reality TV character is not at all likeable, and Jaremi is doing all the wrong things, but if it was a friendly acquaintance of mine in this situation, it'd be upsetting to see even if they were bringing a lot of it on themselves.

I think it's because they get to know her as a person, so of course they'll think that the version of Phi Phi that we see isn't totally accurate.

Drag Race is a TV show, and they'll try to present Queens to fit certain types and narratives. Unfortunately for Phi Phi, as much as she wants to blame the editors, she still gave them the material to present her in a way she didn't want to be seen. Blaming the producers only goes so far when you're responding to their interference by giving them what they want.

That said, no one on the show deserves death threats or hate thrown at them. I've been plenty annoyed with Queens on the show, but I've never thought to go out of my way to insult them or wish death on them.

I'm tired of this trope of Reddit being totally unhinged. I mean, in some places it is, but I find this sub to be more reasonable than most.

It's different in the sense that I don't look at other social media, I only go to Reddit. You have never liked me, so it's no surprise that you have this response, but I do genuinely care for a LOT of people here and enjoy most of my interactions, whether they are positive or negative, because I tend to look at it all from a learning perspective. I'm sure I'll wake up in the morning and regret ever saying anything against you guys, because this is my home away from home. However, I'm human and deserve to get caught up in my emotions like anyone else in the world. Yes, fuck me. Curse me. Hate me. But don't say I don't know what I'm talking about ... With all due respect, I know a little more about what I'm talking about (in regards to this, at least) than most people.

Girl, firstly let me say that I can only imagine how brutal it is to come to a place where our sole purpose is to talk about you. Honestly even beginning to imagine that makes me wanna vom. But I have also said here that you need to take the good with the bad, the critiques with the love on our dear sub-land.

That said though, that's why I think it's SO FUCKING RAD that you come and engage with the community here. Because I can at least say this for myself - and a lot of the regulars here, I think, even if they're a bunch of rotten shade queens <3 - that a lot of the critiques and such come from a place of deep love and respect, both for the art of drag and the queens that bring it to life. I personally am hardest on the people I love and respect the most. For example, I have little patience for the Phi Phi shenanigans (and yes, I think she needs to own up to her behavior, but it goes without saying that death threats and hate are absurd) because I think she's talented af and I would rather see that than the pot stirring.

Anyway, I hope this makes you feel better! That even some of us doing the dragging still love you.

And you're right, the off season is much less mess.

I'm not sure where the personal level of "you have never liked me" came from since I don't actually post about you as an individual or even about your drag other than just rundowns of opinions of entire episodes (and if you search my post history I actually complimented you in another post earlier tonight lol). And my response (to which you said "it's not surprise that you have this response) is literally just saying that queens trash reddit and there's no reason for it. I guess that shouldn't be a surprising response since I'm on reddit.

I'm not one to say we're better than the other social media outlets (especially during actual seasons) but it sucks that this site is continuously demonized. I have never seen a queen tweet "you twitter people are crazy" or "the facebook fans are so cruel". Ever. But at least 40% of the drag race alumni have made tweets or comments about reddit at live shows. Bianca and Sharon had a whole exchange about how "losers use reddit" at a gig a year ago. Like I said, I'm not saying this site is any less toxic than others but to say we're somehow worse is laughable. Maybe it's because this site is more of a community than twitter/facebook where it's just fans reaching out to queens individually or something.
