In the much anticipated Joss Whedon “Save The Day – Vote” political TV commercial campaign, A-List and B-List – and some could argue Z-list celebrities in politics come together to urge young people to vote – against Trump.
From Robert Downey Jr. to Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Clark Gregg and Mark Ruffalo to Martin Sheen, Stanley Tucci, James Franco, Neil Patrick Harris, Julianne Moore, Nathan Fillion, Rosie Perez, Tarran Killam, and Bradley Whitford – Joss Whedon leaves no stone unturned when leveraging the biggest celebrities in Hollywood to make an impact on voters.
The ad paid for by Joss Whedon’s super-PAC – which supports Hillary Clinton, without mentioning a particular name, slams Donald Trump and urges voters to cast their votes for Hillary Clinton.
But will the ad work? Although the ad was somewhat innovative in its use of celebrity endorsement, some critics could argue that the use of celebrities in political ads is ineffective – particularly ads which refer to a large portion of the electorate – namely Trump supporters as racist or to a presidential candidate as an “orange Muppet Hitler” and attempts to entice voters to vote for Clinton with nude scenes from Mark Ruffalo.
