In nearly all of our games, due to our lethargic play, you'll notice Zlatan is quite often surrounded by defenders. Not marked, but literally 8 players back defending in their 2 blocks of 4. He has to not only win the ball, but try and play it somewhere with that many players around.

I don't think we'll see the best of Zlatan until we see the best of Martial or Mkhitaryan. For every player they can beat/move is a player away from Zlatan.

He's not been great and has had many touches as bad as Rooney, but he can provide like he did for Herreras goal tonight. Drew defenders over to him, Rashford beat another, Herrera basically unmarked.

That's my point, I didn't think he would be this dependent on the team working well. Zlatan has almost everything you would want in a striker. He can shoot extremely well, he can head the ball, hold up the ball, pass, cross, do the spectacular. But he has trouble creating chances for himself now because of his lack of acceleration. Top strikers are all capable of consistently creating chances for themselves.

All he's done is create chances for himself with ridiculous headers, volleys and long shots. He is doing that already. When we combine that with good service, we'll see even more than almost 1 goal per game.

I'm not worried.

In basically every game he has played a full 90, he has had at least 1 good goal scoring opportunity. He's also occupied 2 CBs and had decent hold up play.

My only concern is all his chances seem to be volleys or headers - these are low percentage chances. We need to be feeding him cut backs and balls to feet in the box, but I think that comes with greater cohesion.

We have bigger concerns.

I think he's done pretty well, not amazing. But given it's a new league/team and his service hasn't been great he's done alright. Can't really knock his goal return.

If lots of teams park the bus against us (though I'd say this is happening less and less, they just have a go now because we crack under pressure), then surely it makes sense that Zlatan has 'popped up' with a goal in games where he hasn't looked 'dominant'.

That's why you have an amazing striker like him, when the chance comes, there's a higher likelihood that he'll convert it.

It doesn't look amazing to watch because the rest of our team are flopping about like idiots, but that will hopefully get better and, in turn, Zlatan's overall game will look better too.

Don't forget, half the time he's coming searching for the ball because Rooney thinks he's a midfielder and there's a massive hole between midfield & Zlatan.

Well, he's 34. We didn't sign him for his peak performance. His mobility will always be a concern but as long as he comes up with a goal out of nowhere, it's all good.

We lack wingers. We need Mkhi and Martial to perform.

His goal tally is what matters and that's absolutely fine. Pretty much every striker drifts in and out of games, and Zlatan has never been the type to press from the front, especially not at 35.

Judge him by his goals tally, because he doesn't contribute much else. And that's totally fine by me.

I think he's frustrated at the lack of service from poor wingers and effectively no no.10.

Rooney can literally go all game without passing to him. Maybe a short pass to his feet once or twice a game or a cross that zlatan might get a glance on.

When he's been able to link up with pogba and others you can see he is capable of playing to a good rhythm, make good movement and create openings. But Rooney literally does not play with his strike partner. Don't recall a single moment they've done a one two or played one another in very well.

First couple of games he looked like he was ready to go full beast. After that City game it looked like he has had the stuffing knocked out of him. Maybe it is the recovery time of the PL, but I think it there is cause for concern there. He is slow as all fuck as well.
