Just wondering what everyone thought of Memphis' performance? He did well I think. With Martial still injured, he should be starting against Leicester right?

He played with purpose and wasn't as flashy as he normally is especially in lieu of it being a 'big game'. I think he's really trying hard to work for Jose and he wants to show him he's worthy of his place in the squad. Definitely seems to have matured a lot since last season.

I can see him improving, especially over last year. Nothing to write home about but he's become very fluid and isn't as selfish. Light on his feet and was constantly feeding it to whoever is in front of the goal instead of trying to force it in himself. Hopefully he gets more playtime in the future, especially while Martial is in this dip of form.

Was he good? No. Was our performance good? No. Was he bad? No.

3-1 flattered us. Sure, we never looked like losing, but this performance against a Premier League side and I don't see us walking away with a win. That defense and midfield are as leaky as can possibly be, 3 man or 2 man.

Depay was positive at least, he was trying to make runs into the box, and he didn't have any really big blunders. We have an issue as a team playing from wide areas, and I hope we start to address it.

Eh. He was okay. Nothing extraordinary, had a few shots, made a few good passes. You didn't really notice he was on the pitch. I'd start him for Leicester though.

He is not selfish. He wanted to play for the team. Wasn't shooting from awkward distance like he used to.
Hope he will progress slowly.

I thought he was poor to be honest. He just never really seems to consistently do anything of note.

I remember one occasion where he beat the full back and played a good cut back, but other than that I don't really remember him doing much.

It wasn't a great game by the team by any means, but he was certainly not one of our better players - for example, I thought Young played much better than he did.

That said, I've seen some people praise him so I'm interested to hear what they saw that I missed.

I think both him and young made a lot of positive runs and passes. While Young had a lot of flicks that failed to reach his target, I thought Memphis had more accurate 1-2s. He also had one or two more successful take ons compared to Young, who preferred to do early crosses but to no avail. That's what I saw, feel free to disagree. Overall I thought he was slightly better than Young, and both were positive
