Hillary Rodham Clinton's Iowa organizers fired campaign staff worker Judy Rose for sending an unauthorized e-mail bashing Clinton's rival Barack Obama as a possible Muslim insider bent on “destroying the U.S. from the inside out.” Rose, Clinton's Jones County Coordinator for the January Iowa caucus, was concurrently secretary of the Jones County Democratic Party in Iowa. Her e-mail continued: “[w]hat better way to start than at the highest level through the President of the United States, one of their own!”
Paid Clinton staffer Ryan Callahan was forwarded the e-mail and expressed his dismay by calling it “racist and ignorant”; others called it “outrageous” and “offensive.” Callahan did not, however, tell any of his higher-ups about the controversial e-mail. Jones County Democratic Party Chairman Gary Hart (presumably no relation to the former Democrat senator and presidential candidate from Colorado) got wind of the e-mail and posted his response on the Daily Kos website: “I have received two of the most hateful hit pieces on Obama parroting right-wing talking points. One was forwarded to me from a Clinton county chair.” Hart noted on the well-known left-wing site that he is a Dodd supporter.
Obama, whose full name is Barack Hussein Obama, is currently a member of the Church of Christ. When his family lived in Indonesia as a child he attended a Muslim school, which some observers have labeled a madrassa. Obama denies that he attended a madrassa. He and Clinton are neck-and-neck in Iowa polling as of this writing.
