Watching the match with a friend tonight and this topic came up in conversation. Thought I'd share it here with you guys and see what the general thoughts are on it.

Rooney made his Premier League debut at Everton aged just 16, and England national team debut at 17. I can't find stats for the average age of a player to make their Premier League debut, but as far as I'm aware 16 is an early start.

This is where the question arose... Rooney is coming 31 next month. That's a solid 15 years playing in the Premier League, one of, or the most physically demanding league in the world.

Has the Premier League taken its toll on Rooney more so than if he was playing in a different league in a different country?

Is he just going through a rough patch or finding it tough adjusting positions and managerial changes?

This is not a Rooney bashing post. There's no doubt about it, he's a great player when in form and I admire what he has done for our club. I'd just like to hear other people's view on this topic.
