Yesterday I saw this thread on /r/theredpill about how even at the highest intelligence levels, career choices for men and women still varied based on sex. And even for women in competitive STEM careers, jobs with flexible work hours and enjoyable co-workers were favored over high paying more stressful jobs. The conclusion that many of the commenters of that thread came to was that men were more concerned with pushing society forward and taking care of society that way, whereas the women felt that society should take care of them regardless of their career path. And while I don’t think this explanation is entirely wrong, it is a conclusion based on measuring the success of a woman with a man’s yardstick so to speak.
What I would like to see is how many of the women who took part in the study were mothers, and how many children they had, and what organizations did they belong to? Because to me it seems the high IQ women were not avoiding hard work out of laziness or because they believe society should support them, but because they wanted to put their efforts towards influencing society in the feminine way. That the women in this top tier of intelligence are in fact as concerned with pushing society forward every bit as much as their male counterparts, but being that they are intelligent women, they can see that going about it in a masculine way would be less effective for them than trying to influence society femininely. And if they really are doing their part for society, should they not be supported by that society?
I think this is such an interesting topic, because can be more influential for society than being mother and nurturing the next generation of geniuses? In fact, the whole point of the original study was to learn how to identify and nurture mentally gifted children. And really, which is better for society, one fulltime scientist or a part-time scientist and her 2.5 (average) children with the potential for greatness. In a way it is sacrificing personal greatness for a greater good. And if the smartest of women can see and understand the good of it, well then we must be on to something right?
