Get a lawyer ASAP, this has hapened before and I've seen people try to resolve the issue themself and a lawyer might be able to get it done faster and thus limiting the damage.

I've seen it as well. The longer you're "dead" the worse it gets, especially if you have debts etc. Don't save a penny at the expense of the dollar, call a lawyer today.

I'll see what I can find. It may be hard without a way to pay them first off.

Honostly just go and see a lawyer (with a little bit of luck he/she is willing to work something out).

The lawyer will be able to figure out you're alive and good for money.

In addition his congressional representative could probably help speed the process up to.

Not quickly. Congressional Inquirys or Congressional Advocacy is for weird situations that dont follow the law, or when everyone has been failing you for months. I absolutely do not reccomend relying on Congressional staffers to do anything in less than a week.

can OP sue whoever made this mistake for lawyer fees and etc?

[–]frisian2 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

I don't know, I'm not a lawyer and not from OP's jurisdiction, that would be something to discuss with OP's lawyer once he has a lawyer and this mess has been cleaned up.

try and see if you can get in touch with the coroner that declared you dead, a phonecall from a dead person might prompt some double checking on his end.

This guy (follow up - still dead) was also dead. You might find some helpful advice in his threads.

My condolences for your death.

On a serious note that sucks. I really hope this is resolved ASAp

Why would they send you a letter informing you that you're deceased?

[–]GuyLianTOP[S] 16ポイント17ポイント  (2子コメント)

I'm not sure actually. I got 2 letters. One informing me 'X was deceased as of 9/8/16' and the other being my insurance telling me I'm no longer covered since I've passed.

Maybe hoping it'd be forwarded to whoever is next of Kin?

Who was the first letter from?

[–]GuyLianTOP[S] 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

First letter is from Division of Medicaid. Second one is from Jackson MS stating my SSN is locked for being deceased. It's not to me though it came to my address. It says 'Guardian, we are sorry to inform you that X person has been Declared Deceased.'

The bureaucracy doesn't care if you're a spooky ghost or Frankenstein's monster

It's probable something very mundane happened: in reporting to your insurance, the hospital accidentally indicated you died instead of being discharged, and everything went by-the-book from that point on based on the faulty information. It happens more often than you'd think.

[–]GuyLianTOP[S] 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

It's a pain to fix though. No one is being very helpful at either SSA or the Medicaid office.

A state representative might be able to help. Look up who is in charge of your district and call them. If nothing else they might be able to pull some strings and help get you through all the red tape.
