I'm selling my very rare Volvo 740GLE turbo diesel wagon. It's equipped (from the factory) with a 2.4 liter inline 6 turbo diesel made by VW/Audi (found in VW LT commercial trucks/vans in Europe) and a ZF 4-speed automatic transmission. As though the drivetrain doesn't make it unique enough, it's also been lifted a couple of inches, giving it a very tough (some say Jeep Cherokee-like) look and a lot of additional ground clearance. It currently has a straight pipe exhaust, so it sounds a lot like a 12v Cummins Ram under acceleration. It also has a tow hitch.
The car has 123k miles on it, the engine runs well and transmission shifts normally. The rear axle was upgraded with a 4.10:1 factory locker from a 940 Turbo, and an iPD adjustable rear track bar. It has a block heater which just needs to be plumbed into the cooling system. The cloth interior is in good condition, no tears or major wear on the seats, although there are a few small marks/stains that can probably be cleaned out fairly easily. The dash does have several large cracks, which is common on Volvos of this era, and the door cards have been hastily repaired with a combination of duct tape and wood screws over the years. All the power windows work, as does the manual crank sunroof.
The exterior of the car isn't real pretty, but it is a solid car with minimal rust. The clearcoat is completely gone, there are a few touched up spots on the roof. The hood was poorly repainted with silver spray paint, the drivers side fender was damaged and replaced with a gold one, which was promptly backed into by someone while parked, so it is now dented again.
Mechanically, it drives well. The tires (Yokohama Geolandar I/T winter tires) are a bit cupped, causing a slight vibration at speed. The brakes were replaced within the past 10k miles. The A/C did work the last time I tried it, but I believe there may be a small leak in the system. The drivers door latch needs some adjustment. The external liftgate release handle seems seized up, could likely be freed up with some lubrication. The only real mechanical problems are a leaking injection pump (there's an electrical pump under the hood to prevent driveability issues) and I believe the turbo may be in need of a rebuild soon.
