Decent read.

I think we need to be a high pressing counter attacking squad. We're failing to utilise our pace up front & quick passers. We need to start using players who easily understand eachother like Mata & Hererra a few seasons back.

Pogba needs to lose all defensive responsibilities and start playing less like a highlight reel. We need to have somebody to hold our midfield as Pog+Fella both want to be forward to often.

Nobody is utilising Ibras knack of finding pockets between the defenders, long balls will not work. I think Zlatan is a much better striker with the ball as his feet rather than his scalp every play.

We have too many show ponies and not enough work horses. We need some discipline in our attack and communication in our def/midfield.

I don't think 3 at the back with 2 wing backs would work though, we don't have the discipline for that yet & it isn't a Mourinho formation.

That is the issue with Memphis, Pogba, Zlatan, Rashford, Martial, Herrera... They are all best with the ball at their feet. They all want to run at defenders and dribble to create their own space. They all want the ball on their foot, and they do not want to pass.

Good read, thanks for taking time to write this. A few things I'd like to comment on:

Jose won't play Blind and Herrera in the same midfield, they are too short and aren't physically dominant. It's one or the other. He likes his set pieces far too much, so much so that he prefers one of his fullbacks to be physical too.

Numbers 2, 3 and 4 I personally love, and it does address the issue of having a deeper player that can play balls through the lines, instead of just relying on Pogba to pick it up and force his way through. I thought that Bailly was good on the ball in the first games, but lately he's been very shaky (who hasn't really) and according to Jose didn't pass as instructed vs City.

Fifth lineup is risky. On one hand, it leaves us open on one of the sides for the counter, because our fullbacks would have to provide width so middle doesn't get cluttered (Zlatan likes to drop deeper), but on the other we have very pacey centrebacks that (in theory) should be able to deal with it.
