Saying Pogba is a much bigger problem than Rooney all because he had a 7.5% lower pass completion percentage against Watford is absolutely hilarious.

lmao Rooney was slowing down the play soooo much, takes way too many touches and always takes the safe option. Thats the explanation for the pass completion stats.

On the flip side, saying dropping rooney will fix all the problems is more absurd. I think he should be dropped too, but I agree with OP that fans and the media are scape goating him. What happens when we drop him and things don't work out perfectly. Jose out? It's getting ridiculous. The whole conversation about our team has gone into a rooney-gutter. It's not even slightly constructive imo

If you analyse each recent game objectively, hes not the primary reason for our losses. But reading this sub you'd think he was actively throwing the games

Can we talk about the spaces being left behind pogba for a bit? Or the fact that valencia is playing both right wing and right back instead of just being a RB that helps out attack? Or the drop in energy levels at crucial times (and not particularly by rooney)? Or how about martial's lack of form and no one really owning the right wing position yet?

Or let's just burn an effigy of rooney, that might negate all the above. Who knows.. I swear were just turning into England fans lately

I've literally never seen anyone claim that.

He's our captain and is on an absolutely ludicrous wage, I don't think it's surprising that he gets a lot of criticism when he underperforms, especially considering how often he underperforms these days.

I've literally never seen anyone claim that.

It's literally every article about us out there right now.. and 90% of the match discussion in this sub is about rooney. Are we gonna have this level of obsession about each individual problem with the team?

Find 3 comments that say dropping Rooney will fix all our problems and I'll agree with you.

[–]georgie_best 0ポイント1ポイント  (2子コメント)

It's implied by the fact that nobody is mentioning any other problems with the team. Show me some good articles or posts about issues with our team other than rooney, that are equal in passion or volume to the rooney stuff... and then I'll take it back my claim that there's some serious scape goating going on. People aren't coming out and saying it directly because they know it would sound retarded. But its like if a guy says he's not obsessed with someone, but you catch him in a tree with binoculars and his pants down, hes lying and he's obsessed. That's this sub right now

People focusing on one problem means they think it's the biggest problem, not the only one. I don't really see why you find it so hard to understand that.

[–]georgie_best 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

And my point is that it's not even in the top 3 problems right now. And its dictating 90% of the discussion. Like right now.

I understand you perfectly. So try and understand my point.. I said I'm all for dropping rooney, but this level of obsession with this one issue isnt constructive in the slightest.

It's not that the good things he does are being forgotten it's that the bad outweighs the good with him nowadays and has done for the past couple of seasons. For every good game he has he has 3 or 4 bad ones.

"Our legend" threatened to move to City for a bigger contract.

Rooney is shit and needs to be dropped.

While I agree that many people here are going overboard and basically asking for Mourinho to take Rooney outside and shoot him, you are being just as ridiculous.

No matter his performances at the start of this season (or any season for that matter, always the same) he can still be of use to the club, but we should be transitioning him out and integrating another player there for the benefit of both parties.

It's not like Rooney picks himself to play anyway, it's the coach.

While he continues to play regardless of form, no it doesn't need to stop, all the comments and posts are warranted.

Rooney is no longer dynamic enough to be one of the first names on the team sheet any longer. Especially in the PL where the tempo of the game is so high, Rooney can no longer keep with the pace. Gary Neville is a great example of realizing when his time was up, he knew he was past it, and acted accordingly. Rooney obviously needs to be respected for what he has done for the club, but at the same time it is apparent that he is best suited for cameo roles from now on.

To start off, we need to get off his back. He has taken enough criticism. He is our club legend! Not was, IS! Treat him with some respect.

Like the respect he showed us when he put in a transfer request in 2010 and threatened to go to City?

Now, I agree he has had a few bad games, and I agree that he should take a break for 2 games.

He's been terrible for a few seasons, at this point. There is a reason Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to get rid of him. It was not to have a laugh. Sir Alex Ferguson knew he was finished. We're seeing it now.

You guys are acting like a spoiled child

If Rooney had a few bad games and supporters were calling for him to go, I would agree. However, he has been bad for a few years now.

Simple stats show that Rooney completed 33/40 accurate passes against Watford out of which 25 were forward.

Not true. Out of his 33 successful passes, 12 went sideways and 15 went backwards. Therefore, only six passes were forward passes. So, in the 90 minutes he played, that is one forward pass every quarter of an hour.

You think Rooney deserves to play next game?

[–]arron77 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

I imagine OP doesn't, but all the threads are getting boring now. Most are just a side story to bring it back to dropping Rooney.
