What are our problems and How do we fix us?

What do we need to do differently to achieve results?

Wayne Rooney is shown the bench. Best possible XI without our chief referee liason?

Schneiderlin or Carrick in CDM?

Luke Shaw could be out for a couple weeks, LB issue. Rojo? Blind? TFM? Darmian?

How does this team gel? Seems to me we have lot of players who want the ball/ want for them to be the team built around. Who services whom? What IS our gameplay?

How do we come up against when facing teams with compact midfield, resilient defence and fast counters? Because seems to me every other club will do this after the success of Feyenoord and Watford. Starting with Northampton..

Time. We need time, most importantly.

There's clearly a disconnect between what the manager wants and what we're getting on the pitch. We're 5 games in.

Give it time. It's like on fm when I make a tactic then get angry that I'm not winning by half time and change it all over again.

As for team selection I agree with others that Rooney should sit out for a bit and give others a chance at attacking midfield. Perhaps mkhi, Pogba, mata etc

All our problems stem from midfield. Since blinds gone we've been relying on fellaini to start our attacks and also screen the back 4 on his own. He's not capable of either, we should play him/schneiderlin alongside a midfielder with good passing who can defend e.g Carrick/blind/Herrera. I'd keep the 4231 for now and play pogba further forward.

After one game? People are acting like Blind has been our playmaker. We've had no problem playing the ball out of defence it's what's in front of them that's the problem... Rooney.

Two actually and we have been very dire offensively in both. He might only make a few really good passes per game but its the idea that matters I think. The front 3 won't make as many runs knowing there is no one to feed them.

Mourinho is famous for having solid park-the-bus sides with excellent defensive work. His whole schtick is "be solid, give them the ball, let them make mistakes."

This isn't the Van Gall level problem of the philosophy not working after two years. This is a short way into the season with a manager who's famous for sorting out defenses.

Given time, Mourinho will first sort out our defense, then our midfield, then our front line. At the moment the defense is being asked to be zonal and they're getting used to that. There is some ball chasing going on - compounded with a lack of confidence following the City match. All that can be turned around pretty quickly.

It's been written multiple times already but I'll bring it up once more, in a really short version:

Pogba was brought in for a R I D I C U L O U S amount of money. Team needs to be built around him. Let him, Mkhitaryan and Zlatan rule the attack. Martial must run more, Rooney should retire and we need a quality Carrick replacement. For now, use Carrick as a CDM and play 433. Now we all know Carrick won't be able to play 1-2 games per week, so rotate in another led who can shield the defense and play out of the back (Blind, Herrera).

Then, we need time. Time to let the team settle.
