I have been trying to understand tactics of the game a lot more recently and had a question if anyone could help me with.
Most of the top coaches seem to have a style of play or philosophy which they try to implement wherever they manage. For example - Pep and LVG obsess over possession, Klopp has his gene / counter pressing, Ferguson liked playing with wingers or counter attacking football, Tony Pulis has his long balls, etc. What I want to know is that is there a particular style of play which you would associate with Mourinho. I know he is known for his parking the bus / counter attacking tactics in big games, but what about rest of the games?
The reason I am asking is if you look at any successful manager, you could easily point out a specific style of play associated with them but not Mourinho. Mourinho seems to adapt his playing style to suit the personnel rather than the other way around. I am probably wrong and would love to understand his tactics if anyone could explain them.
