What is Evex?
Evex began as an Evolution Experiment in user content. The idea is that any content is allowed, and then weekly votes by the community decide what topics or content is no longer allowed. More info about Evex
How are rules added?
Evex follows a weekly schedule for suggesting and voting upon rules. The rule suggestion thread runs from Wednesdays to Fridays, and the vote takes place throughout the weekend. More info about rule procedures
What are Referendums?
Referendums deal with procedural matters, rather than content, in Evex. Referendums are processed separately from the weekly content rule, though they're voted upon on the same ballot. More info about referendums
What must I know to post?
The minimum that you need to know is listed further in the sidebar. Furthermore, if you only want to comment, there's no need to read the rules regarding submissions, and vice versa.
What if I (accidentally) break a rule?
Don't worry! It's understandable that some rules will be broken just because it's hard to keep track of all of them. Rule-breaking content is likely to be removed, but you won't be banned unless you intentionally and maliciously break rules.

Banned rule suggestions
- 30) Rules that have been repealed in the past three weeks
- 32) Rule suggestions that swap a word or phrase with another
- 41) Rule suggestions that force mods to do odd things
- 44) Rule suggestions that ban specific letters or digraphs
- 55) Redundant, optional, or unenforceable rule suggestions
- 75) Votes for the "Official _" of Evex
- 84) All suggestions that were suggested the previous week
Conditional content
- 33) Historical or scientific claims must have credible sources
- 35) Swearing must never be self-censored
- 58) Imperial units must include a metric conversion, except in aviation or nautical contexts
- 68) URLs must not be shortened
Conditional submission content
- 5) Links that have been posted to another sub within the last week must be marked as such in the submission title
- 16) Posts about current media must contain spoiler tags
- 31) When posting content hosted not on its original site, the poster must link to the original source in the comments
- 34) NSFW posts must be submitted as a text post with a description and marked as NSFW
- 74) Posts without a descriptive title must have a brief description of what the link's contents commented
- 80) Political posts must be about obscure and either non-recent or non-real world politics
Conditional comment content
- 6) Comments in threads with a non-English title must be in that language
- 11) Comments in threads marked [serious] must contain serious, on-topic answers
- 40) Comments containing queries with regard to a referenced movie must be answered
- 87) Any time a bot does what it's programmed to do, the user it's helping must thank it
