What's it backing up to? Your databases/log files are definitely on the larger side, but I'm trying to figure out why it would take DAYS to finish a backup

What backup solution are you using?

Are these physical servers or VMs?
Those are some hefty mailbox sizes, and 7200 rpm SATA disks are the low end of the totem pole as far as server storage goes. Any chance of moving to a SAN, or 10/15k SAS disks?

You can allow/deny activesync on a per-mailbox level, and/or allow only certain devices to pair up. Maybe one of these settings was configured after your account was locked/disabled?

As a PST file or exported MSG files, this could be done though, yes?
The issue is that these emails involve the private email address of someone you'd recognize, and we're trying to replace it with a placeholder address as to not expose it.

I think maybe I wasn't clear enough in the original post. I have these emails available in a PST file. Can I rewrite them in the PST? I could also export to MSG and do some sort of batch find/replace. Anyone know of tools that might help with this?

I have full access to the server - what are you suggesting with the EDB file?
[–]stonetear[S] 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
That wouldn't work on existing messages though right?

Sorry to not add more to the discussion, but "wat" was all I could think:
There are no backups
Also, unless you have a huge environment or other programs running on the DCs, you can get away with 4-8 GB RAM on the domain controllers

I have the exact same bandsaw! It's quite long in the tooth but does the job with a little upkeep

I like this quite a bit. My only critique would be that I think it needs a slightly longer delay between when the ship disappears into warp, and the scene transition to the ship at warp speed. Currently, there's not enough time to appreciate your great warp animation in the stationary scene :)

I've listened to the audiobooks a few times now, they're great for occupying your brain while you're driving/doing housework/etc. Just keep in mind that each book is 30-40 hours long.

Have either of you looked at SkyKick? My MSP has done a few migrations using it (I haven't used it personally yet) and have been happy. Wondering how it stacks up.

Egamma basically said I was going to say- you can set up a transport rule to deny messages based on distribution group membership. You can either set up a static disabled users distro group (that you would have to update every time you disable a user), or set up a dynamic distro group based on that OU that should auto-update

I had some customer servers set up with a batch file that would delete the badmail folder every night, and send an email with a little report of how many items were cleared out that night. What a pain

Seconding this - I've worked on dozens of SBS 2003 servers. Never had one lose the whole domain. Worst that usually happens is that you can't RDP into it until after a second reboot.
