Goals We Are Conceding (self.reddevils)

not sure if this is a coincidence, or teams are exploiting a major weakness in our team, but of the goals conceded which have not been down to individual errors in the centre of the pitch, all of the goals we have conceded have been down our left and cut backs.

I rate Shaw highly but it seems clear teams are exploiting our left side and are finding it all too easy to get into dangerous areas here and cutting back to mostly unmarked players. We are giving away what seems like really simple goals (FIFA esque cut back goals).

Whilst are attack, build up play and almost everything is lacking since the City game, I cant help but notice how all of the goals we are conceding are so similar, adding to the frustration we all feel.

Welcome everyones thoughts on this, whether coincidence or not, wrong or right, Happy Monday o_O

It's two things. Our full backs not getting tight enough and our central midfield not tracking any of their runners from deep.

Basic training ground stuff that needs to be sorted out ASAP.

Jose identified in tbe post match that our fullbacks need to press theirs more effectively to avoid these situations

good to know that he has identified this, other teams definitely have. Definitely not suggesting our full backs are not good, extremely happy with what we have especially when compared to the rest of the league, but the tactics/team-mates are letting them down. I said before i've noticed our full backs have no outlet when moving forward on the wings, to allow our team to breathe and it works in defense aswell, because our wingers come inside and play so narrow it allows the opposing teams full backs to move up the field knowing they havent go a winger out wide to deal with.

These errors are not isolated to this season or Mourinho, we have alot of ongoing issues with Balance since SAF left, It just makes it harder to remain positive and patient when we see City and Liverpool arguably playing the best football in the league at present.... Here's to us not saying that come the end of the season!

Shaw is similar to Marcelo at Real Madrid in that he's fantastic going forward but pretty average in defence. They solved this by having Khedira, or now Casemiro just fill in for him. Fellaini doesn't really do this effectively, Pogba certainly doesn't do it, and Smalling seems baffled by being the left centre back. Blind, however, managed to handle all of this quite easily.
