It's possible to become really good really fast. Just look at City. Maybe that's why this crisis is so tough to swallow.

Yh exactly it's not like the hype wasn't justified at all It was

Indeed it was. The stars seemed to be aligned. Mourinho, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, how could it not be hyped?

Don't forget Zlatan

City already had a fucking awesome team and squad. They massively under-performed last year. Pep has done a great job, but he inherited a far superior setup to Jose.

Yeah, improvement tends to be exponential.

Mourinho is missing his aggressiveness, he doesn't seem ruthless as he once did. Where's the guy that invented a new Madrid and benched Casillas?

He told Schweinsteiger to empty his locker? Benched his £26m signing? Not sure agressiveness is what's missing. I guess most of us are wondering what Rooney brings to the team that the rest of us cannot see. Both Van Gaal and Mourinho have the ego to bench Rooney, so there must be something more.

No he didn't. Martial, Shaw, Ibra, Pogba, Mkhi, Bailly, Smalling, De Gea, etc. are of the same level of quality as Pep's players. The reason you see City's as far superior is because Pep bought with a clear plan of where everyone would play.

City had a good start last year though, not saying they won't carry it on this year but people did say City had the league won in September.

City have always been good these last couple years though. Won the title three years ago, ended second two seasons ago, and fourth last season.

Highest scorers last season in the league while we were 10th. It's obvious we need a lot more work

also City had an identical start last season. They are a good team with just motivation issues. Think its why they never managed to retain the league title

It's all about that process

We managed like 5 wins by a 3 goal margin last season while city did 15. I think it shows it all in terms of what lvg left behind

Yeah but it still hurts seeing Man city playing like that under Pep. Also, let's not forget that Mourinho explicitly aimed for the title at the start of the season.

Man City were already good, they were in the CL semifinals..

[–]SurilliarManchester United 0

That's bollocks. They were starting from a different base. They already had a top quality squad and they already played attacking football. Most of our team have been drilled for two years in LVG's system and we didn't have as much quality.

i blame you too

I was expecting it to be a slow start. New players were coming in and I thought it would take time for them to gel. (I was hyped during the Pogba saga though.)

Then we went on to win the first three games of the season and I got too hyped. I blame those first three game for getting my hopes up. Not so much the signings.

Signings of Mou, then Zlatan, Miki, Pogba. It was hype overload for me

You would think we would learn from previous seasons. LVG signings were good on paper and look how that turned out. Oh well. Football is mental.

I also expected a slow start. But I could never imagine us being mauled by Watford. They are a decent side but fucking hell this was a depressing game to watch.

Big clubs deal with the hype.

I actually think that we are really good. I think the problem is that we are building the team around some players (including Pogba) and in the end result we are losing the team. Remember in the times of Ruud Van, at that time it seems that every player was for the team and not the team for the players. Granted that each player had their position starting off, they were willing to change to accomodate to a new formation but Fergie wasnt building the formation to accomodate the players.

[–]black_squireMartial 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

No. There was reason to be optimistic. Our only issue was attack last season and mostly finishing and creativity for that matter. Adding 2 creative players and a WC striker to that squad was enough to make people excited for the potential ahead. What we've seen though is a ridiculous regression from last season. We've just conceded 3 goals against Watford. We did that against 2 really good teams last season in Arsenal and Tottenham. And this with a defensive pairing that's supposedly our best ?

Atleast Jose is trying things to find the right midfield formula. We tried a 4-2-3-1 and we're now experimenting with a 4-3-3.

I'd rather watch players like Fosu-Mensah, RoShaun Williams, Bothwick-Jackson, Axel Taunzebe, Januzaj, Pereira, Rashford, Martial, Angel Gomes and Gribbin make the kind of mistakes we're making at the moment than these established, overpaid flops like Roone and Smalling. At least they'll learn from their mistakes and will grow because of them. Their youth, lack of fear and energy might just make us a better side and help energise our better players. De Gea-GK, Mensah-RB, Bailly-CB, Williams-CB, Shaw-LB, Tuanzebe-DCM, Pereira-RCM, Pogba-LCM, Martial-LW, Rashford- and Ibrahimovic-CF. Bench: Romero-GK, Blind-CB/LB, Valencia-RB, Herrera-CM, Mhikitarian-CM/LW/RW, Januzaj-RW/LW and Wilson-CF. 4-3-3, alough Martial and Rashford a bit less defensive responsibility.

Add Valencia(rb) , Blind(for Williams), and maybe Carrick or Fellaini for one of the youth CMs with the other subbed in at half time, I'd like to see that lineup.

keep telling yourself that. Whatever hype there was and excuses about new players new manager, we should not lose to fucking Watford. There is something seriously wrong with this team and if we don't fix it fast, we could be seeing the beginning of the end
