For those of you who support having Rooney in the team, where on the pitch should he be playing? (self.reddevils)

There are still those out there, who aren't mates with him, who believe Rooney should still be selected. Someone in the Europa match said they "miss his presence".

The one thing none of those who support him seem to be able to explain is, where in the holy fuck should he actually be playing on the pitch? Even his two managers have outright said they don't know what position he is.

So if he should be in the starting XI, then where?

He no longer has a position. He's a utility player which is why he should be on the bench.

I was one of the people in the Europa thread that said they missed his presence. Not because I believe he deserves to start every game, but because in the game vs Feyernoord we lacked someone who would direct the team and inspire them with passion. In that specific game I could see a value in having him on the pitch.

However, in today's game, and the majority of games leading up to this one. He's been absolute trash. I believe he should be benched.

As for requiring a ingame leader. The team definitely looked better vs Feyernoord after Ibra came on. So that might be a solution
