What is a prototype?
A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Functional Prototype
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Appearance Prototype
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Design Prototype
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Production Prototype
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
About this project
We’ve all had the thought, as we squirt ketchup all over our meatloaf, “I wish this meatloaf could talk to me.” For the common good, I decided to take the plunge.
After a rudimentary attempt:
I decided this task needed serious attention and focus. My dreams wore thin as I spent months back and forth with a 3D computer artist with little to show for it.
The world deserved better. I decided to take matters into my own hands and create the sculptures from the fruit of the earth. After weeks of toiling away, one-by-one the faces finally emerged from the clay.
I had not lost focus on the shared dream. I used my creations to cast the molds that would bring the world’s vision to life.
Today, I am proud to share the manifestation of this vision with those who have joined me in wishing their meatloaf looked back at them as they took that first juicy bite. Now, we all can share in the joy which this brings.

Steps to MEATHEADS Production:
We need your help! Prototypes for Meatheads have been made, it is now time for production. To get there we need computer files for final manufacturing, injection molds, and minimum order quantities.
We have already begun scanning the forms into digital files. As soon as we reach our goal of $25,000, we will start with the injection molds. Once the campaign ends we will have about 3 weeks to get your MEATHEADS to you. We will start squeezing out pans for the anticipated shipping date of October 31st. Just in time for your election day parties!
We have a team of experienced engineers & manufactures waiting to bring the world MEATHEADS. Are you ready?
