You guys deserve an explanation for what happened tonight. Obviously, the Nimble America thing did not go over very well. It was initially planned to launch ahead of the DNC, but there was pushback from other moderators when the plan was pitched to them. The biggest concerns were the need for us to have lawyers involved and for us to have a way to sell it to the community in a way where people did not suspect it was a money grab. So, the Nimble America project was pretty much scrapped until our wealthy benefactor contacted us through his verified facebook account offering to donate money to us. He was looking for a way to put more money towards the cause than the FEC would allow by donating directly to Mr. Trump’s campaign.

We hired lawyers, we filed the necessary paperwork, and we did all of the other steps one would need to do when setting up something like this. Our benefactor is an obscenely wealthy self-made man who prefers to remain anonymous. We had a trusted third party, Milo, get to know our wealthy benefactor and he agreed to vouch for him.

Obviously this was poorly executed. Our benefactor wrote his post minutes before putting it up. None of us, including Milo, even had time to read the AMA post before it was posted. Milo’s endorsement was on the basis of the man behind /u/NimbleRichMan, who is beyond reproach, and that alone. None of the people who are involved in Nimble America, much less Milo, are in this for personal gain. If we wanted to do a money grab we could have done it in a much smarter way, not in a “go to jail” kind of way as this would had to have been.

Nimble America will continue but it will be completely independent from /r/the_donald. There will be no further solicitations for the cause.
