Hillary Clinton blasted Donald Trump for his press event Friday in which he finally acknowledged President Obama's U.S. birth, but falsely claimed that the Clinton had started rumors and that he had put the end to them. Clinton called the remarks a "disgrace" on Twitter, while launching an extensive attack on Trump's history of birtherism and his refusal to apologize to President for "asinine" smears.

The Clinton campaign also issued a statement, calling Trump's comments "disgraceful," "appalling," and "sickening."

“Trump’s actions today were disgraceful," Robby Mook, Clinton's campaign manager, said in a statement. "After five years of pushing a racist conspiracy theory into the mainstream, it was appalling to watch Trump appoint himself the judge of whether the President of the United States is American. This sickening display shows more than ever why Donald Trump is totally unfit be president.”
