チャーチルダウンズにいる私たち全員は、今回のＪＲＡとの提携により、日本馬がケンタッキーダービーに出走可能となる新たなシリーズをスタートさせることをとても嬉しく思っております。日本の競馬は非常に人気のあるスポーツです。卓越した馬たちが出走するワールドクラスな競馬が開催されております。このシリーズにより「スポーツの中で最も偉大な２分間」に日本の３歳馬トップが出走するための道筋ができました。今年ラニが３冠に出走したことにより、世界的にも非常に関心が高いことを認識しました。今回のパートナーシップによりケンタッキーダービーが国際的にもより注目されるようになることを願ってやみません。

All of us at Churchill Downs are thrilled to partner with the Japan Racing Association to create this exciting new series to provide an entry in the Kentucky Derby for a horse from Japan. Horse racing in Japan is tremendously popular sport. The competition is world class and features some of the most accomplished runners in the world. This series provides a path for the top three-year-old in the country to participate in the ‘greatest two minutes in sports.’ We saw sizeable international interest through Lani’s participation in this year’s Triple Crown and we’re thrilled that, through this partnership, we can add to the worldwide popularity of the Kentucky Derby.

このたび、チャーチルダウンズ社との提携により、ケンタッキーダービー出走馬選定　ポイントシステムである「Road to the Kentucky Derby」の日本版として「Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby」を創設することを非常にうれしく思っております。今年のラニ号はドバイのＵＡＥダービーに優勝し、ケンタッキーダービーへの出走権を獲得しましたが、来年以降、ケンタッキーダービー出走を目指す日本馬は、日本の指定競走に出走し、ポイントランキングトップとなることにより、ケンタッキーダービーへの切符を手に入れることができます。レース当日、馬場入場の際に響き渡る「My Old Kentucky Home」が日本にも届くことを心から誇らしく思うと同時に、来年は、私もミントジュレップ片手に日本馬の関係者と多くの観客とともにチャーチルダウンズ競馬場で高らかに歌いたいと願っております。

I am very pleased to be able to launch the “Japan Road to the Kentucky Derby” with the partnership with Churchill Downs Inc. This year, Lani earned a spot to start by winning the UAE Derby in Dubai, but from next year, Japanese horses aiming to run in the Kentucky Derby can run in the designated races of the series here in Japan to be awarded points to get this ticket to the starting gate. It is with great pride that “My Old Kentucky Home” will reach Japanese racing fans and it is my earnest wish to sing it with a cup of traditional Mint Julep in my hand, together with Japanese horsemen and all the many fans next year at Churchill Downs Racetrack.
