A goofy sci-fi action comedy web-series about three misfit pirates on a hunt for the last remaining treasure on their entire planet.
About this project
THE PILOT
We launched the pilot of this series on June 10th of this year and it is now streaming on Youtube!
THE GOAL
After giving everyone a taste of what this web-series is, our goal is to complete this season by creating 5 more 10-15 minutes episodes. We plan on having the episodes finished by early January 2017.
THE STORY
Laser guns. Sword fights. Floating Cities. Evil robots. Blue Horizon takes place on a dystopian planet where an Industrial Revolution caused massive amounts of smog and pollution. The rich decided to make their own cleaner cities over the ocean, hovering on the horizon, while the poor were left on the contaminated ground below.
The rich eventually divided the sky up by Horizons, naming them Red Horizon, Orange Horizon, Pink Horizon, Purple Horizon, Black Horizon, and Blue Horizon. Blue Horizon is the only section of the sky with space ports, which are the only way off this crummy planet.
This is a story about three overly incompetent pirates trying to escape their overly incompetent planet. Start with Azure, a level headed guy who has one simple goal of fleeing a world that as casted him out. On his journey Azure befriends Icarus, an angry punk teenager, who is trying to save his best friend who has been imprisoned. After the duo was formed they encounter Asonya, an angry cyborg girl, who has the key to the last remaining treasure on the entire planet. A treasure that is enough to buy themselves a ticket onto a place in the sky called “Blue Horizon”.
So all these three outsiders have to do is figure out a way to work together, find the last remaining treasure on the planet, sell it, buy a ticket up to Blue Horizon, and escape their stupid dumb world before Zypher and his robot army stop them.
WHY WE WANT TO MAKE THIS SERIES
"Remember as a kid when you would clash different kind of toys together, creating some fun new out of the box epic crazy awesome story? Growing up you almost forget how much joy that brought you.
Throughout the years there has always been one story that has resonated with me, that story is “Blue Horizon”. A story about floating cities, lovable funny characters, lasers guns, sword fighting, and space ship battles on the horizon! Creating this story reminded me of those days as kid, I could make a story that was out of the box and something I just found awesome. I want to share something that means so much to me with the rest of the world, in hopes that others will receive the same joy it has brought me." - Bryce Brown, Writer/Director of Blue Horizon
PRODUCTION
Most of the budget will be going into the art department and equipment. Good props and costumes are ESSENTIAL for any sci-fi. We will further improve on already developed costumes, while creating more realistic wardrobes for the robots and cyborgs. Plus more laser guns! Renting gear is always the most expensive part, especially when filming in the wilderness where we will need special equipment such as portable LED’s and camera stabilizers. We also make sure our cast & crew are well fed when donating their time and hard work.

WE NEED YOUR HELP
It’s hard to find funding for a student project, especially when most of our own money goes into tuition, rent and most importantly food. By supporting this production you are allowing college students to bring their ideas to life and create something awesome.
Any contribution, high or low, will be greatly appreciated! Every cent counts!
Be sure to check out our Facebook if you want more updates on this production!
Thank you for your time,
Team of Blue Horizon
Risks and challenges
There are an infinite amount of problems that can happen when creating an independently produced, high concept web-series. Many of the problems that we’ve faced so far have been locking down locations and scheduling our cast and crew for the same dates. However, with an amazing production team we feel prepared to overcome many of these complications that we are expecting to endure.
We also found it difficult when constructing props and costumes, trying to make them look somewhat not cheesy when working with a very low budget. Receiving funds will allow us to expand on the costumes and overall improve on the production design. We know that the creative minds behind this story have the drive and the passion to stop at nothing when helping make the highest quality web-series they can.
