This has been going on for a while. The right has complained about political correctness for years when they're criticized for saying horrible stuff, but when Obama says people cling to their guns and religions suddenly they think political correctness is great.

Trump supporters are made up of two camps.

The first being out of work older white folks on welfare, social security, and food stamps. These folks generally speaking do NOT like to be corrected. They generally will complain about "PC this or that" and how America is worse because of it. This is where you find your old school racists, bigots, misogynists, etc.

The second is a perpetually shifting group of fringe teenagers, millennials, who are few in number but are tech savy (unlike their older counterparts) enough to use the internet to spam fake accounts, rent botnets, use poor scripting and are generally found throwing around racist slurs and "statistics" because it's cool to be edgy on the internet. These folks use "anti PC" culture in order to push a heavily racist narrative behind the Trump campaign, in an attempt to bring value to their lives before bedtime.
