I think these are PERSONAL attacks and they ain't cute. Have you seen the goodies from Courtney Act's Kickstarter? And she's delivering good music (Sam Sparro is AWESOME). If people think she deserves it, so be it. She'll reach the goal and i'll be the first to stand up for ovations.

She's been shady to the AA Girls (which features Willam and Courtney), so I think there's something going on.

That's all I see from her these days. Literally last 3 posts of hers that I've noticed on social media was her drawing Pearl, Violet and Fame looking pissed off and writing 'smile' underneath to be shady (which Violet then reposted on her wall saying Manila drew some new fanart LOL), then her trying to come for Mimi Imfurst and now this. I used to live for Manila but she's making it really hard to like her these days, sadly.

Who fucking cares? I don't get this attitude. If an artist wants to ask their fans to help out with a project, and the fans are happy to do it, why is that anyone else's business? The pizza thing is referring to the whole religious freedom debacle, in which one of the first places to say they will not serve gay weddings due to their religious beliefs was an Indiana pizza place (thereby losing out on the multimillion dollar industry that is pizza catering to gay weddings rite?), long story short they got told to sit down, a bunch of homophobes and "people who genuinely just care about religious freedom" donated thousands of dollars to them in a kickstarter. (And in return, a bunch of other people started #Pizza4Equality to raise cash for homeless LGBT youth).

Jinkx had a campaign to help fund Drag Becomes Her. That seemed reasonable. Nobody is forcing anyone to donate to anything. Now where I don't like kickstarter is when companies use it. Like the one to fund a Veronica Mars movie. I also even don't like the one with that Small Town Boy gay country/pop singer. He should have just gotten a record deal directly.

Well last time I'd checked his album seemed like it would never come out and I'd read some people were frustrated. And it just did end of last month. I guess there's not much difference. Except the expense structure of albums vs movies are different. Jinkx probably does have more money I'd think but maybe the documentary producers don't. Also there is probably more money is selling music than in shuttling a documentary around to film festivals.

I have cared about certain kickstarters/gofundmes that involved deceitfulness like this person my friend knows that was asking for money for surgery for her mother to save her life-when in reality her mother was already dead and buried and she just was trying to milk money out of people and created the gofundme after her mother already died.

That kind of shenanigans is trifling. My friend reported her.

But if she is referring to say Alexis who was up front about what the money was to be used for and will use it for that purpose-then people are not being tricked into donating. They are doing so because they want to and that is hurting nobody.

Manilla's ass needs to have several seats. The more she voices her opinion post-RPDR, the less I like her. Why the fuck does it concern her? I really don't get this attitude. It's not as if you have to support the Kickstarter. Don't like the project or don't agree with using it for these purposes? Then don't donate to that project or give it more promotion.

I mean, good for her for using her money to produce her own music. I mean, given how awful her music is, I'd say it was a complete waste, but good for her. She's welcome to use Kickstarter herself to fund future music projects, but first she'll need to show she has some actual singing talent or songwriting talent before I put any money behind that.

Agree and disagree. If you have a strong record of producing great entertainment/art that nearly always costs to invest in, and you happen to be low on cash but brimming with ideas, go for it.

But when people like courtney act wants 60k to do an album, we know 45k of that money is going to her bank. And willam 20k to make a web-series with a cameraman and some green screen editing. #toomuch.

But some genuiney needs the cash to make their ideas come to fruition, like trinity k bonet and alexis mateo, with relatively low asking demand such as 2k. Much more respectable in my opinion. Cause you know all of those 2k are going in the right place and where fans expect them to go.

And as someone who contributed to his kickstarter, I would assume that some of it will go to some new clothing. Because every show needs a wardrobe, and I love seeing what he decides to wear each week.

It's a pretty common and unfortunate attitude towards people in artistic professions in general. But the art doesn't come if all your time and energy is going into a 9 to 5. Musicians, graphic designers, etc. are asked to work for free all the time because it's "fun."
