Thank you :) I didn't let it get to me, but it was the first time someone shunned me for being on Reddit. As soon as I got off the stage from seeing Pearl, 1 guy pulled me aside & vented to me about the group of friends he was with. O_O . Didnt even have the chance to defend Reddit. I sat down on a gold lounge with my drink & Hello Kitty fan & waited for Pearl to perform.

TRUTH. We're the ones bold enough to come out with things & spreading ANYTHING they have out there in support. I went to see every queen by myself so idgaf. It was whatever to me. Like I always say, I'm the only 1 paying my bills & I'm in charge of my life...no one else. So they can do them.

Michelle Visage was so right when she mentioned that, for a fan, the most disappointing thing is getting that type of treatment from the queens you are a fan of. It's an eye opener that even a seasoned queen like Bianca Del Rio, prior to Drag Race, experienced when she was called a "nobody" back stage by a couple of celebrity RPDR queens not to her face but while she was in the room at hearing distance. And they kiss up to her now.

When S8 airs and it's over, there will be a new batch of Queens that don't take fans for granted. Those who do it now will be fading away with our indifference when they wonder why no one cares to post about their gigs in Reddit anymore. Per Michelle Visage. it's the law of Karma, and Karma is always a bitch.

It wasn't Pearl, but a group of guys. But Michelle is absolutely right. Today is the 11th anniversary of my mom's death from cancer. My dad had prostate cancer, but survived. I've been in abusive relationships, I could keep going....people going off doesn't even phase me anymore. Karma is definitely a bitch & a lot of us on here are strong enough to deal with it. That's why I'm here. Like attracts like.

    I reckon that this 'tidal' phenomenon is a very recent one, here, on our subreddit.

    I know we are a hivemind (albeit a small one in contrast to other subreddits), BUT, I do not remember experiencing these love/have rollercoaster mentalities around here for seasons 5 and 6, with this huge expression of it.

    And I do not think it's a matter of more subscribers to this subreddit; it's a metter of quality over quantity. I don't know if it is the new Demographics, or whatever..... but it's outta control.

    I desperately need a /r/TrueRPDR or something like that...

    A portion of any community is going to be comprised of assholes. I personally think that this community on the whole is quite positive. I find that there tends to be a lot more love and appreciation going around than snark and cattiness. But frankly snark and cattiness is fucking entertaining otherwise we wouldn't watch drag queens. That being said, some people don't know when the reel it in, and they give the rest of us a bad name.     Yeah, totally. But, like someone else said on this thread, a few assholes can ruin it for the rest of us. Fame is a huge burden, and I think Manila handles it with exceptional grace and class. She's humble, she does a lot for her fans, and she fucking apologizes for her mistakes. Think that's maybe why she deleted the original post--she probably didn't want to alienate the people on Reddit who support her. What more do people want? She's a goddamn human being!

      You certainly have a point. Not everyone who makes a critique is an asshole. Some people give honest and constructive feedback, even if it's negative, without being malicious. And that's totally fair. People have differing opinions within discussions--that's what makes it a discussion.

      However, people who are unreasonably cruel whilst "talking shit," as you say, are the ones I'm referring to. The world has long-since surpassed its cruelty quota, so why put more out there? It's just not necessary.

        Did you read my reply? Or either of the articles you linked? There's a difference between gossip and being straight-up mean, or, as the first article puts it, "between bonding and bullying." Also, evolutionary adaptations do not dictate our actions. We're wired to do a lot of things that we can choose not to do, like having sex with every attractive person we meet or killing other people in order to obtain their resources. Using evolutionary psychology as an excuse to be cruel is not only lazy and irresponsible: it's dangerous.

          If I were an artist and people said they hated it, I would perhaps be a bit hurt emotionally even though I intellectually knew full well beforehand that criticism was to be expected by me putting it out there. It's not so much about other people and their critiques, because of course it's going to happen, it's just about taking a chance and making yourself vulnerable by putting yourself out there. It is a two edged sword. You have to take the good with the bad.

            I'm too late to see her post, but scanning the comments I get the gist. Everyone loves Manila, I've never seen any hate towards her. =/
            I did see that thread where people weren't really digging her new single, but that always happens when someone who is famous for something else, decides to create music.
            I'm tired of this sub being berated by the queens, we are your FANS, why not take time out of your day to make a huge gratitude post about the positive things we say. Oh right, it's because you take those for granted..

              Allow me to play devil's advocate a bit... but we're not obligated to be nice here. This is a forum for us to express our opinions--good or bad, and Manila chose to

              1) come to this subreddit

              2) search herself

              3) focus on the negative comments when there's plenty of positive too.

              So I don't necessarily think we're in the wrong.

              I mean...for God's sake...there was a Manila love-fest last week about how she's fierce and should have won Season 3. People here are often too harsh, but I don't see Manila as a particularly bad recipient of it.

              It can get pretty bad. Sometimes it is almost as bad as the Sharon hate train when it starts up. I think it usually has to do with her being "incredibly mean" in S3 and then from there people take digs at her Facebook statuses or tweets that were intended to be funny and then backfired or what have you. I love Manila though, so I've never really participated in those threads, just checked them out and shaken my head at them.

              I know right. Look at some of the positives she got 4 days ago:

              Re-watching the season currently, and all editing aside, Manila really seemed to be stronger than Raja in the competition. She almost never failed to deliver on the runway, plus her challenge performance in the Race, was -in my opinion- better than Raja's (and I am a huge stan).

              I think she's honestly the biggest powerhouse the show has ever seen along with Sharon and Bianca, its really surprising that she didn't win (I think she would've beaten literally any other drag queen on earth in the final 2, but the judges loved Raja from day 1)

              Manila is probably the only queen who ALWAYS had an ENSEMBLE look----and they were superbly put together with YES that nod to glamour and camp...

              In an interview with Meth, Raja even said that Manila probably should have won. She's also my favorite queen of all~ It's a shame she got robbed so hard on All Stars...

              Hm I think I know why all the queens hate reddit. Like on facebook, twitter, youtube, you have people who don't think about what they write so they just post stupid, mean things which are easy to ignore. Eloquent, assertive and articulated debates are not easy to ignore, especially if they're having some truth to it. I mean, I'm sorry, but lots of queens could learn by reading some good posts around here and maybe even improve their careers. I'm pretty sure we love all of them here, I've never seen such a positive place before, we have heart for everyone (unlike on FB, where they're still stuck about PhiPhi being a villain).
