I find it hard to believe that Pogba and Martial got nearly the same score. I realize Pogba's defense wasn't great but look at his highlights from yesterday he was the one man who could break their press by dribbling through it and did so several times.

I don't recall any meaningful contribution from Martial at all (granted he played about 10 minutes).

Pogba had terrible defensive discipline and he was poor in his decision making. He deserves a 5 imo. Martial was brought on to late to make an impact. He was their so we could put another goal scorer in the box. He was one of those late substitutions who didn't play badly nor did they play well. You don't have to rate the substitutions and Martial shouldn't have been rated because he was too late to do anything

Pogba lost the ball a lot, those dribbles are only meaningful if at the end of it you make a pass.

Watch his highlights he made quite a few passes.

I probably have hazy memory, I will watch it again, but he could have done a lot better imo.

I honestly think you will be surprised, not that he couldn't have played better mind you its just it wasn't all his fault a lot of his passes were lost right away by the player he passed to.

Seems like a fair assessment from the sub. I think that Rooney was definitely one of our best players yeaterday but he is not what a 10 should be, a 10 should be like Kevin de Brunye. We should have signed him, what a player.

All in all, our whole team played shit yesterday, I don't know if it was because of the pressure of the occasion or if it was the unclear game plan or was it a combination of these and other factors. This defeat hurts but thanks to that second half there are positives to console myself.

It is pretty dumb to rate the starting XI at a 4.6, because it was almost the team everyone wanted, and it was the right choice in the beginning. Nobody knew that Mkhitaryan and Lingard would underperform that badly.

Is it? For me it's clear that Mourinho made selection mistakes, which, let's be honest here, probably cost us a game. If van Gaal had done that, he would be absolutely destroyed by this sub.

Overall pretty accurate, but I highly disagree with Bailly being higher rated than Fellaini.

At this point we are duty-bound to praise Rooney for ‘trying to make things happen’. Which basically means tearing around, chasing balls, flying into tackles for which he really should be booked sooner, attempting to start a fight with Guardiola, taking all the set-pieces and appealing every time the ball hits an opposition player on any part of his body in the box.

By the end of the game he had lost possession more times than anybody else on the pitch (23), which – granted – only happens when you are ‘trying to make things happen’. But for real influence, check out De Bruyne, nominally playing in the same position as Rooney at the opening whistle but making a lot less noise while having a lot more impact.

I've been an adamant Rooney defender but this analysis was really an eye opener. To think that he lost possession as many times as Lingard and Mhiki combined... it just boggles the mind. I still want to see him at the wing as a second striker but as a no.10 his days are truly numbered.

I find Pogba's low scores a bit silly. Granted he didn't create much but overall he played well and the task of going forward and leaving Fellaini alone with De Bruyne and Silva was ofc an impossible one. To me has was a victim to the system more than anything.
