The best team won. They actually played some excellent football as oppose to our long ball tactic to Fellaini & Zlatan. It's early so we'll learn from this, the team, Mou and hopefully the terrible refs too.

Shitty first half performance. Second half I was happy how we picked ourselves up and came out firing.

Jose deserves some of the blame first half and so do the players. Not a fan of what Jose said post match - he should have left it at individuals were bad but he has to take responsibility.

Going forward I don't care what anyone says Rooney cannot be in the team. We need to play a 4 3 3 with Carrick with Schneiderlin/Herrera and Pogba in midfield. Also wouldn't be a bad idea imo to try Blind there - let him ping balls about similar to a Kroos type player (I said similar not as good) until we can get an improvement or unless Blind proves himself (which I think he can - if he cost 30m I think peoples opinion would be a lot different)

Mkhitaryan was shite but he has talent and we need to keep playing him so he can get used to the league - he could have been injured as well. Not sure I agree with him being used in that game.

Blind has been good for us but I'd like to see Smalling put back into the 11 and solidify a back 4.

Overall I'm not mad - De Bruyne had a brilliant game and tore us a part.

I'd like us to try something like De Gea Valencia Smalling Bailly Shaw Carrick Blind Pogba Martial Ibra Mkhitaryan.

He did but he expanded afterwards. I think he should have just left it at "there was some bad individual performances but I'm to blame". Only a small complaint though nout major.

Lingard must be laughing his ass off, how the hell that guy managed to be a starter last season and start yesterday is beyond me. KDB showing Rooney what a world class 10 looks like, and people say Rooney is irreplaceable lmao. Blind again showing time and time again he isn't good at defending, don't know how many goals he'll need to cost us untill you people realise that. He's good vs teams that sit back but crumbles against teams that put high pressure on us. Pogba was poor and needs to start showing it in big games if he wants to be considered one of the best midfielders in the world, that midfield partnership got torn apart yesterday and it was painfully obvious it was going to happen, you could see the spaces they left behind even vs Southampton. Pep made the better choices and City's players were better, deserved win from them. Jose needs to learn from today.

The main reason for the loss was the selection of the starting 11. Lingard should never have started such a high profile match after a month of absence. Also Mkhitaryan was not 100% fit, not Jose's fault though.

I know this will get downvoted but if we want to win the league we have to play players in their proper positions.

Blind was amazing in the first 4 matches but I think his best position is CDM. Fellaini gives it all for the team but I don't think he is natural defensive midfielder. Schneiderlin or Blind should play the CDM position.

Edit : As Jose won't drop Rooney and Pogba being ineffective in the 4-2-3-1 formation we should play 4-3-3 with a midfield trio of Pogba - Schneiderlin (Blind) - Herrera. This will allow Pogba to roam around freely and concentrate on creating more chances. We can fit rooney on the right side of the front 3 consisting Martial(Rashford) - Zlatan - Rooney(Mkhitaryan).

He's looked pretty solid under Pep so far. However, I believe Bailly has a much higher ceiling in terms of talent.

It sucks to lose yesterday. Sure, maybe we should've got a penalty. But it's too late to dwell on that. Hopefully the things that we need to improve on will be addressed. One game lost, but many more games still to play for.

I will re-watch the game, but it was amazing that every loose ball, deflected ball, bad pass everything, ended up at a City players feet every time during the first half. They outplayed us, but there was luck involved too.

We lost, but this was one of the best matches that I have watched in years. I will always remember that ball lying on the ground 2 meters from goal late in the match, and Zlatan's offside for the disallowed goal.

Who else have the opinion that Rooney was lucky not be sent off? Popular on /r/soccer and a few on here also confirmed it.

I don't see how they came to form this opinion. I've seen far worse aggressive performances without even a booking

It hurts to lose to those cunts but they deserved it, we were played off the park in the first 45 minutes. However, as many people have said, it's still early days. Our second half showed promise, and that our LvG boring sideways passing mentality has gone, we actually took risks and tried to attack.

Lots to learn from this result. It's not the be-all and end-all, we'll bounce back, I'm sure of it.
