It was fuckin ridiculous that Lingard started over Rashford, a player who has not played in over 4 weeks versus a player who has been on fire and scored a hattrick...       I don't wanna jump on the Lingard hate wagon, but he just had an awful game. He struggled to control the ball a few times even. I just think he had a very bad day. Having said that, I would be starting Rashford over him too. Miki also had a very bad game today too.

                  It was crazy how different I felt watching this game. We conceded yet it didn't bother me, in the exact same way I used to feel under Fergie. For the whole game from start to finish I thought we had a chance. The game is over and we lost and yet i'm looking forward to the next game already, instead of under Moyes or LVG where i'd get pissed off for the rest of the day and lose excitement for watching the team play.

                  I've really missed feeling excited about watching United play and feeling hopeful if we perform bad that we can turn it around. Win, lose or draw this sort of attitude and intent is so good to see as a fan and if we can iron out the issues, we'll be fine. The only reason we didn't get anything from this game is entirely our own fault.

                  This is also one of the only games I would have felt like I got my money's worth after a loss. The tactical battle in the second half was one of the best I've ever seen and this will be one of the best games of the season.

                      All match? Felt disgusted first 30 mins. Was very entertaining after that but God that first 30 mins.... We deserve the loss. Take this loss on the chin and hopefully learn something from it. Mkhitaryan will need a lot of improvement and Lingard didn't even look like a Manchester United player. Fingers crossed they improve. On a happier note Herrera was amazing and Rashford pushed their defence in the early part of the second half.

                          I think we played better today in the second half than at any point last season, win or lose. It was City abandoning their philosophy and parking the bus and us throwing it all at them. A proper game of two halves with end to end stuff and other cliches.

                          If cuntenberg wasn't such a cunt, we would have had a penalty and Bravo would have been off as well. We didn't deserve to lose.

                          It will be interesting to see whether popular opinion turns against Pep if he continues to be so negative and encourage time wasting in the 50th minute.

                          Well we did. Their two goals were fucking shocking in terms of our defence, so many amateur mistakes involved here, and it could have been worse. Our attack was also quite shit at finishing chances, especially Zlatan who missed essentially an open goal and then 3 or 4 other chances easier than the one he bloody scored.

                          On another day we may have got a draw or a win but the result was incredibly fair. They got the goals from our own errors and defensively stopped us from scoring.

                                            Yeah, today was a big test for Pogs, as Pep was always gonna press our midfield hard. Had Pogba stepped up, released his passes earlier and helped us to transition with more pace we might have won the midfield battle. But yeah, pity he didn't use his strengths as he might have.

                                            Overall, if he's to justify his price tag (not that a player really has that responsibility), he'll have to meet the kind of impact Yaya Toure has had in the derby n his time.

                                                  The tactics weren't wrong, Mkhi and Lingard were supposed to track back, theyre much better than Mata or Martial at that, and play on the counter with their pace, Mou didnt know they would lose every ball and get beaten in every 50/50, they were utter shit.

Irrespective of Miki and Lingard, DeBruyne kept finding the space behind Fellaini and Pogba, and ahead of the back line. The result was that he dominated. Mou moved Herrera there to cover, and it completely changed the game.

                                                  I think a big problem was 4-5 players pressing when the ball went back to the defense and keeper. Left us very vulnerable in the midfield and defense. We stopped doing that in the second half, along with the substitutions it helped, I think.

                                                  Its the whole point of possession based football, to stretch teams. No one in the Prem did it against LVG, which is why our possession football the last few years didn't work. They just sat back and let us pass the ball around between defenders. We played right into Pep's hands in the first half.

                                                  I understand that he didn't expect the poor play from the wingers but I also think he got the tactics/lineup wrong. With how Silva and KdB like to roam and find those tight spaces in between the lines, a 2 man midfield was always going to struggle which was going to pull our CBs out of position. Rashford played well in the second half and made a big difference but I think the real difference came from the Herrera substitution which made it easier to close down those spaces and limit their midfields hold on the game. It wouldn't have been as apparent with better performances from our wingers in the first half, but the tactics were still wrong imo.

But I have to say that the rush I felt during that second half is one that I hadn't felt in a long time, and the players played their fucking heart out, they really did. Fellaini was astounding, Rooney gave everything, Herrera too.

                                                              I'm so glad to say that we lost because it was City and they have a great team, instead of having to admit that we're basically shit and have no clue like it was often the case in these last 3 years. Players were shaken at first but gave everything and that's what I love to see. They're all going back to the dressing room having lost and I love every last one of them.

The second half seemed like a totally different team and I feel like we at least deserved the draw from it but we just couldn't get it in the net.

Rooney was shouting at mkhi to close down kolarov, and he ignored it completely. This allowed kolarov to take his time, look up for iheanacho and send a long ball in. Small things like that creates big impact and it showed.

Why do I have to scroll so far down to see one sliver of a mention to how bad blind was. He may not have been the only reason, but he was directly involved in both goals being scored. Lazy on the second goal to keep him on sides and for the first goal he couldnt have been anymore flat footed. He was ball watching the while time. With the pace to get behind like this team has, smalling and bailly needed to both be on. Provide pace and strength to hold off the quick city players making runs in behind the defence. Adding Herrera to support the pass out of the back and our build up would be completely different.

Lingard was absolute shite and Mkhi was slightly better but only just. We could have taken the game with a better starting 11, but I'm happy about the fightback and the desire - it's just one match and we can will definitely be up there.

                                                                                    Such a cowardly, tacticless, improvised first half. The typical Mourinho plan that was criticized so much everywhere else he coached. Playing offensive, controlled football against bad teams, and then switching to a very cowardly style players aren't used to against good teams. I had so many Barca 5 - Madrid 0 scary flashbacks. Mkhi hadn't featured more than 10 minutes a game all season, so choose to start him today, even coming after another injury???? ok then... Lingaard played as a right wing all season? Sure, let's improvise play him at left wing against the biggest team. I mean what the fuck???

                                                                                    Blind also got owned in both goals, maybe it's just easier to play out of position against bad teams.

                                                                                    The second half though, that was so encouraging to see. I LOVED watching Guardiola screaming all scared and calling for 5 at the back, I loved the substitutions, the quick reactions, the switch to 4-3-3, Herrera's game, having Rashford in. In the end, Ibra giveth, and Ibra taketh away, I wish Rashford had scored his chance (ruled offside by Ibra) and it would have been the perfect ending. We have a lot to improve, but we improved so much in the second half, I have no doubt we'll get there. Just wish Pogba had been better and we didn't improvise.

                                                                                                Despite the loss, I think we played really well second half and we were unlucky not to equalise. My standouts were Fellaini, Rooney, Hererra and Bailly (again). The worst players were probably our other signings, Mkhitariyan was awful but to be fair he is still injured and im sure he will improve when hes fit, zlatan was so frustrating today and pogba looked like a nothing player today, taken down too easily at times (do you think we should play him higher?)
