As much as I get your point, OP, as an older gamer with a family, I'm okay with waypoints. I don't have the time to read everything and remember where I'm going/what I'm doing. The waypoints and quest lists help me actually complete these games. I'd be totally lost without them because I'd forget everything between the handful of hours I get to play maybe one a week or so. I guess I'll take the handicap.

My cousin, who has two kids and is about 10 years older than me, has been working through New Vegas for years. He forgot where he jammed all his loot.

I'd like a game with a bit of both

Or maybe a toggle.

HAve the game designed around morrorwind style, but have an option to turn waypoints on if you are tired/bored/want to hurry or are just lost

Simply, "add waypoint" at the end of the instructions/book/chapter would be great.

Yeah, I just don't have the time. I love to read, too. Just can't spend as many hours gaming.

Morrowind was no joke, I played that game.for at least 150 hours before I found the main story quest with the blades guy and the moon sugar.

I liked how in oblivion it was a mixture between the two. There was still markers but you had to find thw objectives using your knowledge of the game world too.

I never had the pleasure of playing morrowind but between oblivion and Skyrim I feel as though oblivion had more exposition and explanation behind it don't get me wrong Skyrim is no slouch it's amazing I just feel like Skyrim is sometimes a little ..........less involved.

Agreed. I do wish tgere was a setting so it maybe dissapeared once you were in certain range of the objective.

Fallout 4 does this for certain quests

This was my favorite part of Morrowind and why I still hold it in higher regard than its successors. The quest markers always broke the immersion for me and reminded me that I was playing a videogame.
