4-3-3 is a must imho. The 4-2-3-1 is just way too lightweight in midfield with Wayne as a 10. And not saying Wayne shouldn't play because him and Ibra creates twice as many chances as the rest of the team combined, but I think it's time to stick him on one of the wings and see what he can do when the midfield is able to establish a bit of dominance closer to the box.

City were without their main striker, took off their second choice striker, lost their best attacker to injury and went 5 at the back in the second half. All of those things merit consideration, no matter how good Herrera was today

They only took off Kelechi because we started to dominate them in midfield. It was a tactical response to how our midfield was able to dominate.

Exactly right. Pep probably thought de Bruyne as striker would be able to find the gaps. Good move on his part thh. Didn't really work too well though

I disagree, I think they took him off because of his decision-making starting in the first half. You could see Guardiola berating him for picking the wrong option at least once.

I'm also not sure we dominated midfield at any point today. City were more than happy to let us have the ball on the halfway line in the second half and crowd us out in and close to the penalty area.

I agree with you. But we also had many things not going our way either. Smalling out. Form of some of our players. Etc. Not sure I've ever seen a pep managed team get dicked around like that excluding Dortmund

I don't remember a Pep team playing as defensively as this, yeah. I don't know if I'd call protecting a lead by defending deep (thus letting the opponent have the ball further away from goal) being dicked around.

dude, how can you say our 2nd half performance was brilliant. It was okay not brilliant. I mean come on, long balls shouldn't be our go to tactics, it wasn't effective at ALL. And we are fucking better than that! If City didnt waste so many counter-attacks, we culve conceded 3 goals or more. To be honest, I expected more from Mourinho tactically in the 2nd half.

I guess brilliant in the sense that we nullified their attack and forced pep to play defensive. The same could be said about us possibly scoring a few goals at the end of the first half.

In my opinion beside Ashford goal that was ruled offside, City still had the best chance in the second half compare to United. How many times United got caught in the counter attack with 4v3 situation. can you imagine if Aguero was there?

I liked him too, had one bad play where he slid into Fernando and missed, should have stayed on his feet, we got lucky that DeBroyne was injured/tired by then and couldn't get on the end of it properly.

I agree about Herrera. He'd need to be taught to play more disciplined. Would have to watch some bouquets videos
