September 9, 2016 (Rockville, MD)- ZeniMax® Media today announced a one hundred million dollar deal to purchase CD Projekt Red®, creators of multiple award winner The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and leading digital storefront GOG. "This is something that's been in the works for a long time now, the ink is finally dried," said VP of Marketing for Bethesda Softworks®, Pete Hines.
CD Projekt Red started as a small developer, and over time and generated a wealth of IP and software technology. Zenimax Media sees this as a good fit with the rest of their studios, all of whom have also released games to critical acclaim. Bethesda Game Studios® Todd Howard®, in an interview with Game Informer remarked, "The expertise they'll [CD Projeckt Red] bring to all Zenimax Media development studios will bring our already award winning games to the next level."

"With the tools and expertise we can access from renowned game creators Bethesda Game Studios and Id Software, we can make Cyberpunk 2077® the game we've always envisioned it to be."
With CD Projekt Red® working on Cyberpunk 2077®, an award winning pen and paper RPG, Bethesda Game Studios® has been handed the reigns for The Witcher 4®. "Once we heard we would get The Witcher we dropped everything and started working on it," said Todd Howard®. "Seeing it in motion in the Void engine is unbelievable, working with Deepmind on AI and procedural generation has really opened everything up for us."
The Witcher 4® does not have a release date.
