Really? Not liking being harassed is whining?

Ay fuck r/drama shout out to boosie

    [–]gentellotus 0ポイント1ポイント  (21子コメント)

/r/drama has harassed me for weeks now constantly pinging me and sending harassing pms.

They decided a while back that looking for "drama" wasn't enough. Getting off on bullying people and stalking them was necessary.

    [–]unwordableweirdness 2ポイント3ポイント  (11子コメント)

    Yup, that's their deal.

It's okay because it's LULZ. Everyone must be silent or else.

It's frustrating since users who have been stalking me for over a year are welcomed and encouraged there. One guy even called my workplace and threatened my partner. But they were just laughing about it. I genuinely wonder what kind of people they are in real life. They'll never tell you because they're ashamed or afraid, they can give buy cannot receive the hatred.

If anyone makes a case for anonymity being a bad thing online, they do.

Naturally, one of their favorite attack methods is to stalk those they hate and try to rob them of their anonymity, as they did with you.

The admins do nothing, presumably because their definition of harassment is unattainably pointlessly specific.

While I'm not sure if you would fully commit to the argument, despite how scummy, stupid, creepy, or even dishonorable these stalker reddit users seem -- especially if they are calling and legitimately stalking -- that's not a good argument against implementing infrastructure to let people be anonymous online.

The admins do nothing, presumably because their definition of harassment is unattainably pointlessly specific.

There's probably not much they can do if they're using TOR or some I2P or proxies unless they block all users who do the same. If /u/unwordableweirdness has any further information on the stalker/s though they should definitely dump it or put it to use, others could probably help. Speculating, but the best bet might be if admins could just compare log in times for accounts used for harassing /u/unwordableweirdness, see if they could get a non-TOR IP or something. A reddit bot could help track the harassing accounts but an admin would have to get the IP, etc.. Or if emails were exchanged the person could maybe be traced. Reddit might turn over an IP for a subpoena at least. I'm not sure, unwordable has probably already tried doing something.

"that's not a good argument against implementing infrastructure to let people be anonymous online."

    Oh, I'm aware of that.

I mean at a gut-level, even if its wrong (and it is wrong), it'd be harder to miss anonymity after seeing (and experiencing) it being used to such toxic and destructive ends by cowardly hateful fucks on the internet.

    [–]Fg78zQtL1u 2ポイント3ポイント  (5子コメント)

I mean I guess I can understand the sentiment, in that you want to stop harassment, just like we would want to prevent human trafficking or child pornography. Even in those far worse cases it's not a good argument against technology for anonymity. Total control over the internet, the ability to track all users online or whatever -- that would be worse.

On an optimistic note, at least by arousing the scorn of bad guys unwordable is kind of exposing their motivations and weaknesses. I wouldn't be surprised if paid forum trolls were partly involved.

I do agree with you there.

And on the lattermost point, yes, absolutely.

It's kind of curious how artificial it seems when the tides turn somewhere on the internet, and mysterious new names show up, usually with (adjective)(animal)(food item) handle names, and push some pop-politics.

I've seen some political websites eat themselves from the inside out because of that.

you can turn that off at least, it won't stop them harassing you but you can no longer view mentions of your name.

You people are so fucking obnoxious and ignorant it's ridiculous. You are the one who spends your time following a couple of people around poking them incessantly and making up petty shit and then running back home and jerking yourself off.

If you click the link, it says "ONLY A MISOGYNIST IS AGAINST FEMINISM". So it looks like they "took it over and shut it down".
