I don't like having to pay fifty dollars on top of the full purchase price to feel like I'm getting the full experience of the game. But I'm going to, because I've been in love with Battlefield since Bad Company. I'm a hard working adult who makes my own money, and I'm not going to complain about the price point of game content.

The map packs, at least in Battlefield 4, all felt very distinct from one another in the variety they delivered. Naval Strike was the weakest of all of them, with basically copypaste CQB on islands seperated by water, which the worst maps tend to be: interesting points seperated by the expanse with no variety.

Each expansion delivered a new mechanic exclusive to its own maps. China Rising had the bomber, the close-quarters one (Dragon's Teeth?) had the combat robot and the well polished CQB, Final Stand had the future weapons, and who can forget the Phantom Program? And Naval Strike was there.

Chainlink, as a game mode, was dissapointing, but the maps delivered were good.

Let's not forget that weapons come with each expansion, generally two or three. Also, DICE added five or six weapons near the tail end of BF4's existence, free to all players.

To sum up, I dislike the high price, but I don't think it's a rip off. It does divide the player base, and I wish it were cheaper. But I also believe that it's unreasonable to demand that the company not release DLC, and it's unreasonable to ask people to "vote with their wallets." Unless literally nobody buys premium, it won't work. And believe it or not, not everyone browses Reddit, and not all Reddit browsers ascribe to the refined opinions found within r/gaming.
