first thing (and probably not your issue) he named the folders 'Images' and 'Sound' instead of 'images' and 'sounds'

this meant the scene would never load up when I tried to launch it
luckily the second scene contains this file too and it was included in the rip

He did those. And that's the problem: his style is turning really, really unappealing. It's been degrading for a while now (I'd argue that ever since Mesu Kyoushi 4), but I never thought I'd legit skip a Kagami set in my life.
Not only is the sheen he gives to the girls odd-looking, but he's made the girls lose their edge. He always had cute character (Sakura and Maya for Lilith, Azusa and Miyuki for BISHOP), but they also had some bit of edge to them. Now, they're just "cute", and nothing else; Tokiko is the best (or worst, depending on your point of view) example of this; she looks like a rejected design of Azusa from MK2. Of course, it's obvious why she's designed as such, but that doesn't mean it's a good design.
And then you see his new designs for Asagi and Sakura, and they're just trite.

Honestly, ZOL has suffered something similar to the aforementioned BISHOP artists; a really good track record and a highly evolving and improving artstyle, but still gets overlooked because of varying reasons. And ZOL has not only been working since the late 90s, he's a professional mangaka - an advantage he has over Kagami, who is a shit mangaka in comparison (those BISHOP shorts are honestly embarassing).

It's weird, I seem to be on the exact opposite side of this argument.
I honestly feel ZOL hasn't improved his work in years, and besides that has never been anything other than mediocre. His colours are flat, nothing has any "depth" if that makes sense (I can't word it any better, sorry) and all that set his (female) characters apart are the hairstyles.
On the other hand, I quite like Kagami's recent style of colouring and don't notice any change in how he designs characters. Then again, I fully admit to being heavily biased, since I just love the Kangoku Senkan series.
Entirely seperate from the discussion, ShindoL is my favorite artist, and I hope he gets to work with Lilith again someday.
