Incredible how strong he is.

That is one strong ass animal.

Strong horns, too.

That's what I was thinking. I'd kind of expect it to snap but nope, lifted the freaking vehicle.

Antlers are made of bone, so they're prone to breaking like any other limb. Horns, on the other hand, have layers of of keratin, which is the same substance we find in hair and can be incredibly strong.

That would make for one hell of a shampoo advert.

Why do I use l'Oreal conditioner? flips car over with horns ...because I'm worth it.

🚗🐂

"Moooooooo" flips car over with horns..."moo"

Translated this for you

You speak cow!?! 🐮 I'm often told my bull is very good, they're similar languages!

Bull and cow are similar, but don't mix up"moo"with "moo". One means I wish you well, they other means I stuck this horn through your mother's ass

"Look how crazy fucking strong my dreadlocks are!"

But would it hurt if they snapped off? Isn't de-horning Bulls kind of a nasty process?

It depends. Dehorning is done to the very bottom, where blood vessels run. It's also made in a way so it doesn't grow back I think. That must hurt af.

If a horn breaks, if its just the tip, that won't hurt though. It's like with nails kinda, I'd say.

Yes, it is very nasty.

I've never done bulls, but did disbud a very large number of goats.

We used an electric dehorner like this one which heats up to red hot, and you burn through their skin and burn out the horn while it's not yet attached to the skull. The smell and screams are not nice, and you can cause brain damage on small goats if you overheat the skull.

There's also dehorning paste (video of application here) which basically melts through the skin and horn. It's like concentrated drano, and you can see the calf starting to be in some serious pain by the end of the video. It's also uncomfortable and people have caused serious damage with overapplication.

The third option is worse yet, and done a bit later in life.

Before horns snap off their neck is usually broken, which is one of the big reason for dehorning. Prevention of broken necks, goring, etcetera. It's a nasty process, but the goats had no signs of discomfort after 18-24 hours unless they banged their head against something. After a week or two the wound was healed and they were happy as can be. It was overall a much better thing than keeping horned goats, and better for the goats.

That is one of the most horrifying things I have read lately. D: Can I ask why they need to be dehorned? To prevent injuries?

Thank you for your very informative post. I didn't know any of this.

With dairy cattle, you can disbud them when they're calves with a lovely scoop of a device

I haven't come across that one before. How, basically, do you do it? Tap it with a hammer to break through the skin and tissue, and then scoop out?

Nope you just push it in with your hand and turn and it takes out a tube like a holepunch.

And the reason you didn't use anesthetic agents... was that also for the greater good of the goats?

Here is the American Veterinary Medical Association review of dehorning/debudding cattle. Warning: if you are a decent person, reading about the standards of the dairy industry will probably make you feel quite a bit of guilt that you participate in this industry.

Adding to what the others have said, my dad thinks that totally dehorning a grown bull is harder on them than castration. Our method was to cut off the tips of the horns about halfway back and at a slight angle. This creates a blunt surface rather than a point and causes the horns to curve downward instead of forward. We would cauterize the cut surface with a flat branding iron. Remember that most of the momentarily cruel things done to these animals, at least on a small ranch, is for their own benefit. Bulls are assholes and beat up on each other all the time. Just think of all the nature programs where two big males fight and one or both get horribly wounded. A pen of 20 bulls with natural horns is like a pen of potential Swiss cheese.

Remember that most of the momentarily cruel things done to these animals, at least on a small ranch, is for their own benefit.

Okay, first off, decent human beings contact a veterinarian and use actual pain control before burning nerves and chopping off body parts. Many major dairy buyers require dehorning be done by a veterinarian because there is no humane way to do it without medication.

Second, you can't put a creature in an overcrowded environment with no mental simulation all day so you can slaughter it and eat its body for no other reason than you like the taste more than the many easily available alternatives, do harmful things to them to minimize the damage your confinement might cause, then spin that as being "for the animal's own good." That's just nuts.

I had to double back too. Keeping animals in completely unnatural surroundings, in very cramped conditions (dehorning is often also done so you can keep more animals just as much as for safety) and then claim that mutilating them is for their benefit, like debeaking, dehorning, cutting off tails and testicles...I don't know, this is some serious mental gymnastics here. We keep them confined for our benefits. We mutilate them for our benefits (because if they'd kill themselves before we get to kill them, we'd lose profit).

Are they stronger than ivory? I wouldnt think so since bulls arent targets for poachers. But then again more valuable doesnt mean stronger.

It's not about strength of the material. It's about whether or not the material has mystical properties which will make your penis better.

Actually you're thinking of rhinoceros horn that is ground up for that purpose

That's a myth. Rhino horn was used in TCM for fever and some other common maladies, it wasn't used as an aphrodisiac.

Huh, good to know, though I still think that's what they were thinking.

[–]Qesa 0

Keratin is also what skin and fingernails are made out of, and isn't nearly as strong as bone. Like antlers, horns' strength comes from bone. Unlike antlers, horns don't drop off and regrow each year, so they need an easily repairable outer layer to deal with scratches and abrasions.

No, it's clearly a bull not a donkey

People willingly let themselves be chased by that.

I'm probably just being an idiot, but isn't that a buffalo?

Looks like a bull to me.

Bull is a term for a male, and doesn't denote a species. Cattle, Buffaloes, and Bison can all be bulls (or cows).

Yeah, but when someone just says 'bull' alone without any other context, they mean cattle bull.

Just like 'cow' by itself means female cattle.

[–]bicycling_elephant -1ポイント0ポイント  (12子コメント)

Here's a picture of a buffalo to compare with. The one in the OP looks more like a bull to me.

That's actually a bison. Buffalo are found only in Africa and Asia.

Dude, even the title of your pic has bison in it.

Well, it is a one ton animal, so...

Now double that and you get a bison

I just want to know the exchange rate for wildebeest. Asking for a friend.

american bison are far less than one ton on average...

now a water buffalo....

Actually if the Spanish flag that sort of shows in the right corner is correct that is a toro bravo (and it looks like one), they're about 500-600kg.

Poor thing. The car's so scared it pees itself.

Looks like window washer fluid. It would make sense since it's on the side. I don't think it's radiator

so it's crying not peeing

It's a defense mechanism.

Y..Yeah I cry because it's a defense mechanism, too.

It's crying out the side of its head. It'd be like if someone stabbed you in the face rupturing your tear duct and you cried through the stab wound. But yes, it's crying.

Could be the coolant tank or the washer fluid. Either way it's going to cost money to fix and I suspect that bull doesn't have insurance.

Are you sure it's not just headlight fluid?

Easy repair. Just slap some elbow grease on 're and you're good.

Woah now. You can just slap some elbow grease on it without changing the muffler bearings..

Would that really make more sense than the car peeing itself like a biological creature?

A lot of modern vehicles use somewhat-sealed systems where what used to be the overflow bottle is now part of the active flow and is pressurized. That component doesn't have to sit down in front low next to the radiator either, and may be up on top of the fenderwell.

Hell, even my '95 Impala is like this and the design they used dates back close to 30 years.

Yeah, it could be. My Jeep has a reservoir around the same area. It's just on the opposite side I have the windshield wiper fluid.

Washer fluid is definitely possible, but in my car the engine coolant reservoir is in almost that exact spot.

Thank God somebody threw a flag on his foot, or things could have been a lot worse.

Doing God's work right there.

Pretending to care while really watching from the side laughing? Checks out!

The lazily thrown flag in a vain attempt to help. ha.

I think, the person was scared shitless. I would be.

I wonder if the bull thought the car was mortally injured when the fluid came out.

if you watch the video, the bull stops right after the fluid came out. His attitude was like 'right. Got HIM sorted out. Who's next?!'

I can't tell if it was steaming or not. I wonder if any got on him and if it was hot.

It was probably Window Washer fluid.

Try explaining that to the guys in the shop

Or the insurance company. "I swear it was a bull!"

"Mm hmm, a bull. Sure. Not covered."

"Was it the same bull that produced your story?"

Thank goodness there is video evidence...

I'd replace the tyre and washer fluid reservoir/coolant and keep the body damage as an interesting story.

I had something similar happen to my car, but more body damage and less fluid leaking...and it was two fat girls fighting, not a bull.

Back in high school we drove by the local McD's one night, as it was a big hangout in our town. My girlfriend at the time ran in to get something while I waited in the car.

As I was waiting, two obese girls started scrapping in the parking lot. As they were fighting like two silverback gorillas, one they managed to both fall into my car, denting the driver side front fender so deeply that it was rubbing on the tire. My car now had a giant ass print on the side!

The call to the insurance company was equally hilarious, and the entire insurance office was on speakerphone laughing hysterically while I tried to explain the issue. They ended up having to take the girls to court to cover the expenses, as the girls refused to admit they had anything to do with it (despite multiple witnesses).

Me: "So...two fat chicks got in a fight and crushed my fender..."
Insurance: "...what?"
Me: "Two fat chicks damaged my car...they were fighting...outside McDonalds..."
Insurance: "Hold on...Ok you're on speakerphone, can you please repeat that?"
**Laughter over the line*

Tl;DR: Two fat girls got in a fight and fell into my car, heavily damaging it. Damage from the bull reminded me of the damage of two big broads.

"As the court can clearly see, the butt print of the defendant clearly matches the damage to the plaintiff's property."

There was actually a visible ass imprint on the side. It was much larger than my ass, and I was sizeable back then.

I read that as "two fat girls fighting a bull" first.

That's a lot of headlight fluid he lost right at the end there.

Expensive headlight fluid.

Gonna need some elbow grease to fix that

Probably gonna have to get out the left handed wrench to put the new container on too

Why not?

Is this not a reasonable place to park?

Reasonable? You're on a sidewalk!

We drove all the way from L.A. for this show. We're friends of Debbie's, we used to romp with her.

I'll let the spilled wiper fluid answer for me.

I'm pretty sure that's headlight fluid

It's actually the bull leaking horn oil.

If it was orange, it would be the blinker fluid. I think you're right.

I'd like to have seen Hunter's response to that bull.

He would've sprayed the bull with mace.

"Mother of god!" I thought. The beast was charging right at us, a murderous rage controlling every muscle in it's body. I grasped at my pistol in a panic, pulling the hammer back with my thumb. I could feel the sweat begining to bead on my forehead as the bull shook the car back and forth with it's massive devil horns.

Was I going to have to put this animal down? Was there no reasoning with it? Surely if it came down to it I would have to. Plus it was doing irreparable damage to my rare and expensive ayahuasca trip.

I put my arm out and pointed the gun directly at the window, waiting for it to shatter into a million pieces and destroy our last line of defense.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING" I heard the driver yell. I glanced over quickly and back at the bull that was now gone. "Huh? Where did it go?" I muttered to myself.

I could hear the children in the backseat whimpering.

My god it was hitting me harder than I'd thought.

"I better get back to the bar before I really lose it" I considered in a fleeting moment of clarity.

You people voted for Hubert Humphrey! And you killed Jesus!!!

too bad his truck didnt have reverse.

I was thinking that, but the bull could have been injured if the car started moving, especially if the driver panicked.

I wondered if the bull would have gotten frightened away if they revved the engine

Yeah wouldn't want to hurt a bull that's attacking you

The bull is just damaging a car, not hurting anyone, so yes you wouldn't want to hurt it. Even apart from the fact that an injured animal is even more dangerous.

I wouldn't want a bull to pop my tires in the middle of bum fuk no where

It's not just the damage the bull has done that they've got to worry about - there's also going to be all those shit stains on the seats.

What country's flag would you prefer they throw?

turkey or china might have a better result

Don't act stupid, you know you're supposed to throw Taiwanese flags at bulls.

Because it's probably in Spain?

Tauros used headbutt.

How the fuck does Tauros not simply win by default against any other bug or mammal?

Like yeah, let's let the fucking overgrown rat a chance to nibble on the bull.

If I were those parents, I would want my children seatbelted as the bull tried to flip the car.

popped the tire and went back for the windshield wiper fluid tank.

Is this not a reasonable place to park?

Reasonable?! You're on the sidewalk!

The flag served only to enrage him.

Considering car's weight and adding the people to it, this is fucking impressive.

Seriously, though, how did this happen?

Bulls are not know for cool, calm, collected behavior.

Yes, but why is there a bull just running around?

Because in Spain town festivities are like dothraki weedings, one with no blood is considered a dull affair. (but seriously, it's a shame that most of them revolve around bulls or other forms of animal mistreatment)

If you search youtube for Yellowstone Park wildlife attack videos there's an entire genre of idiots getting threatened by animals they inexplicably assume are tame.

I'm almost as impressed with his strength as I am the size of his nutsack.

Man he's pretty much lifting that just by tilting his head upwards. That's damn strong

Those idiots at the back. If that thing turns round that tiny fence won't help you.

Fucking run.

Or like, walk away casually as to not attract its attention

As long as you leave really and not hang around and watch.

Nah, that bull can just barely lift a 5000 lb car a few feet off the ground and puncture it's tire, I'm sure the fence will be fine.

In this video they released a rampaging bull but everybody stood still and the bull just kind of swerved around them.

So I guess so long as nobody panics, they won't get charged. The worst thing to do is run.

Yes but in this situation someone(or a car?) seems to have provoked it. Would the bull then go nuts? I imagine that it either attacks nobody or everybody.

Message I'm getting here is if I see a bull. Back up slowely and be as un provoking as I can. However if it's pissed at someone leave...or climb.

What a load of bull.

Is there a video with sound? Im hoping the people inside are screaming like The Simpsons.

Woulnt honking make him go away?

Probably would have made him even more aggressive. It might have helped before the attack started, when he was still in fight or flight mode, but here he is very clearly in fight mode.

i woulnt honk if i were you Lucy

SHOW HIM YOUR BADGE !!!!!!

damn he busted the tire pressure fluid

He's just playing. Look at that tail swing!

Serious question here, would it be illegal to shoot the bull in this situation?

why didn't he just gun it?

"I. Said. No. Fking. Parking. Here!"

bulley bulley to him

the car just has a hard-to-reach itch, the friendly bull is just helping scratch it :)

Either that animal is female or it has two penises...

Holy sheez, that bull is wrecking that radiator.

Should have used his horn back.

I wonder if thats covered under liabullity insurance?

My back and neck hurt just watching this, poor form.

The referee threw the flag down, but Bison don't give a shit.

Why not? Is this not a reasonable place to park?

Look at all that headlight fluid

They should close their fucking windows

I bet he has high IV's.
