$94??? Jb is usually $69- $79 for new games

Hey, if you're going to get a refund anyway, it might as well be a big one.

Yeah, get all the money you can get.

It's one of the NZ branches

The "All Blacks Edition" of a rugby game is a dead giveaway.

I hear EA is coming out with one of those editions for NBA Live 17. It's going to be called NBA Live 17.

Whitebois can't jump, yo. Now watch em slamdunk some hoops. Time for a spacejam like it's 1993 and Michael Jordon is busting hoops and...

I don't know anything about Basketball beyond what was in Space Jam, The Road to El Dorado, and Flubber.

I assume they're not allowed to tackle each other or carry the ball?

That game is $119! holy shit that sounds expensive

It's about $89.00USD. Still way overpriced.

And here I thought it was a ripoff at $60.

Even the ripoffs are better down under.

We eat ribs with this dude!

Idk why you were downvoted you're more than likely right

NMS was $79 AUD at JBs

Plus the rugby title underneath is the All Blacks Edition. Wouldn't have that filth on Aussie shelves.

Seeing that price I thought "Must be New Zealand"

I was really confused until I googled it and realized you meant 79 AUD, which is about 60 USD.

Man I miss Australia. I live in Canada now and new games are also $79 plus tax which adds another ten bucks.

Never thought I would hear someone being nostalgic of the low price of games in Australia.

Yep me too.. Plus minimum wage is half the price of Aus

Australia much be pretty cheap. I might buy it on my next payday.

69?! Where do you people live?? I'm so sorry.

I thought I was reading it wrong and the actual price is $9.40.

Well, what looks like a rugby game just below it is selling for over a $100, so I really can't imagine what kind of business tactic they're trying to pull off.

Did anyone else notice the rugby game for $114? That seems like a little much

NZ has always been around 15$ overpriced compared to AUS JB-HIFI due to the exchange rate, which is 79$ for No mans sky and 99.95 for the rugby game.

$114? Jesus, that's £63 in UK money. Most new releases here are £40 tops. I'd offer to ship games to any New Zealander that asked, but I bet you have crazy import duties as well.

Haha funny you should say that. there actually is a UK based site called nzgameshop.com which sells games at UK prices in NZ dollars for us Kiwis.

Damn, and i thought i had a brilliant idea of starting a company... back to the bannana stand, i guess.

There's always money in the banana stand...

Well, it’s all gone now, Dad, and it was my decision. So next time you want to have a little power struggle, just remember that you’re playing with fire.

hey, aren't you my cousin?

Most new releases are £50-£55 tops here. Sure, you can get them cheaper at certain stores (and not digital) but you probably can in New Zealand as well.

Ireland, usually around €70 for new games. Luckily lots of places to get the second-hand with quite a good reduction.

For fucks sake. I remember being 16, getting $400 paychecks. I only really had to worry about gas and insurance. That's when I splurged and bought a Dreamcast, some games, memory cards, and an extra controller. Even then, that would be way more than I would ever spend on a game. Even the normal amount of $60-70 was too much. This was before DLC, so used was so much better of an option.

It says 119.98... even worse

I've been wanting a good rugby game since Rugby 2008 on the PS2...maybe one day EA will make another :(

I had no interest in playing this game, but it's gotten so much negative publicity here that I'm almost tempted to buy it. Like could it actually be that bad? Only one way to find out... But not for $94

Its actually a cool game, if it didnt have so much hype and was 25 dollars it would have been a very different outvome

I think $20 would have been the magic number. Many of the flaws would have been forgiven and the ambition would be praised, even if it fell short.

$20 (actually 20€) bought me Ori and the Blind Forest - is No Man's Sky really that great ?

to be fair, Ori is amazing. not a lot of indie games are anywhere near that well done, so it seems unfair to compare stuff to it lol

Is that another of those titles where the gameplay is mainly an excuse to show off the artwork?

a bit, but the gameplay is actually super fun. fast-pace platformer style. It's not too difficult, but its a good time, and the soundtrack is spectacular.

Been avoiding this on Xbox One even after a big sale..

I spent $60 on it and I feel I have totally gotten my money's worth. I spend hours exploring at a time and love every minute of it. But hey, maybe that's just me

I feel the price tag isn't the issue necessarily. It's not worth 60 or more dollars. They coulda priced it at 80 or more and people woulda bought it, myself included. The real problem was how they advertised the game, even after release. There's a massive list of things that were said would be in the game that are not there. They were dishonest and for that I'll never trust this company again. On the bright side I'll never fall for hype again and in the future I'll wait until the game is reviewed before I buy it.

Never pre-order games. The reason preordering started was so companies knew how to distribute the limited copies of their game. That is no longer an issue. Every store is stocked to the brim on opening day, and most games can be downloaded anyways. All it does is compel you to buy the game because of your down payment.

Only time I ever pre-order anymore is off amazon for same day delivery, and only on games that are major sequels. IE:

I love Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 and so will be pre-ordering the third cause I expect it will be about the same as the first two. The handheld versions though aren't major sequels, so would never pre-order. Another example would be Fallout. I'll pre-order 5. But not any spin-offs or not major sequels.

I preordered dragon quest 7 coming to the 3ds, that is probably the only game i'll preorder.

If I had a dollar for every time I encounter someone swearing off pre-orders or hype forever...

You could become a pre-orderer without financial repercussions!

^ prly already has COD on pre-order

Had a good time. I don't know what was promised. I do know that I went through a black hole, warped around, checked out some neat planets and animals. Shot down a few space pirates and became a multi millionaire

No man's sky.... or 4 months of WoW? I know which one I will choose in the end.

You won't play 4 months of NMS. The game is already dead and its been out for only a few weeks.

I'm right there with you.

2€ bought me the original Binding of Isaac.

Does No Man's Sky provide better randomized fun? Or easily over 100 hours addicting gameplay?

Every deal is shit compared to the orange box but unfortunately good deals don't come around every day.

Yeah that was one of the best gaming deals of all time.

This. I bought it. I'm not short on dough so the price didn't bug me, but it sure as shit feels like an indie game built by a small team that sells in the PlayStation store for $19.99, not $59.99.

Yah, I'll buy it when it's like 20$ and actually enjoy it. However if it was an mmo, I'd pay 60$ and play the shit out of it.

It wasn't even the hate on Reddit that kept me away. I was interested in it but not hyped for it before release. Even considered buying it on release, and I never buy $60 games anymore.

What kept me away was that every single gameplay video I saw was the same thing over and over: some combination of flying, looking at random weird creatures, or mining random resources. It looks like there's very little to do in the game, and for an open world game with no end, there has to be a lot to do for me to want to play.

You have good instincts. Don't get me wrong, I like No Man's Sky and played it for hours upon hours — and would gladly keep playing if I didn't have such a huge backlog — but it's a grindy, repetitive game that doesn't go far beyond what you correctly identified as the core gameplay mechanics. It's good for people fascinated by the procedural generation, and that's about it.

some combination of flying, looking at random weird creatures, or mining random resources.

That's literally the entire reason I bought the game. I wanted a game like this, where I could just relax and fly around exploring a galaxy. It's not for most people, but those that enjoy it are in that niche.

It's not nearly as bad as Reddit tries to make it seem. I got about 50 hours out of it before I started to get bored, it's just not for everyone.

I think a lot of folks were upset with the AAA price tag for a game that should have been around $20.

I would have paid as high as $40 CAD for NMS. But $80? Not worth it for me.

I enjoy it when I want something laid back to play. Plus it looks pretty.

$60 is kinda high for a screenshot generator, though.

Reddit didn't make it out to be bad. The devs lying about the content made it out to be bad.

That's interesting logic you have there. Why not wait for it to be like $20? It's worth $25 at the most.

If you play on a pc don't get it there are several games on steam much better, has more depth and content and also much cheaper than no man's sky.

I pirated it to see what the fuss was all about, game was okay for the first 30 mins, after an hour I realized i've done everything there is to do and deleted it.

I've pirated a few games in the past and then actually purchase them if I enjoy it (e.g. Cities: Skylines). but NMS literally has no content. I wouldn't pay more than $10-$15 for the game

Everyone I know in person that has it really enjoys it. But these people also weren't following it before release and got all the broken promises. So I think if you go in blind, it can be quite good and relaxing. Just don't expect a AAA title.

[–]Meecht 0

Do you leave your vault in Fallout and immediately travel into the wasteland, father/son/holy ghost be damned?

Have you explored every inch of Tamriel, but have yet to talk to a single NPC?

No Man's Sky might just be for you. It is a game about exploration, pure and simple. You'll find a lot of the same stuff, some different stuff, and some stuff you won't know what to do with.

You'll meet aliens you won't understand until you learn their language, word by word. You'll find new spaceships, then become annoyed at crafting the 100000000th Carite Sheet to get it off the ground. You'll discover interesting wildlife, and Crab-Creature #532b (it was a different color than #532).

And one of the alien species likes to fart. A lot. It's how they show emotion.

Do you like a game where the only system in the game is inventory management and in order to upgrade yourself you need to give up inventory slots which is never useful until you are so far into the game you have absolute fucktons of everything and no longer need upgrades? Then this game is for you.

Just wait for it to be released next month on PS+

I like it but I tell people if you need any direction while playing a game then this game is not for you. There is literally no story, no 'path' outside of the first world tutorial stuff which hardly counts anyways. It would make for a great $20-30 game or a proof of concept for something else, but in reality it's just an okay procedural generation simulator.

I knew I would like it but not for full price so I waited until there were some used copies at the gamestop and got it used for about 30% off the new game price.

You can get it on torrents for free, The PC version anyway.

All blacks edition?

The All Blacks are New Zealand's national team, and they're way good and very popular! They're kind of like the Lakers or Yankees of rugby. They also do a cool haka before their games!

Except the All Blacks are good.

Well yeah. I meant like a historically good team. Maybe the Spurs would have been a better example...

I think you were on point with the Yankees... Their 27 World Series wins to the Spurs 5 Finals says enough

Holy shit that was a close call.

Almost didn't see any circlejerk about No Mans Sky today

You can rest easy now, for it has happened.

Cut to scene on The Island in LOST.. Someone is in the hatch..the computer is beeping. Its time to input the numbers and press the button..

Cut to computer screen as typing commences.

instead type out:

n.o. m.a.n.s. s.k.y

The entirety of /r/gaming is just covered in a thin film of horse paste now.

[–]dingus_malingusV2 5ポイント6ポイント  (7子コメント)

can someone inform me what was wrong with this game?

It didn't provide many of the experiences it had promised. In some cases, it seems like the creator flat out lied. In the end, the game would have done well if it had shown up on the store as an indie game for $25. Without all the hype, it could have been a small success.

This is just lifted straight from a steam review. Does it count as a repost if you write it on a placecard?

All this complaining 'bout this game and i want to play it. When its cheaper i may get it... it looks like a relaxing-ish game if not completely finished. IDK it just seems like they started something and for got to add other stuff. ITs what i get from watching videos! Oh well...i still wanna play!

There's a certain buccaneer who let me borrow his copy. The game is fun as fuck, but it doesn't have $60 worth of content. Made once a patch hits that I simply cannot live without, I'll get my own copy.

Those prices, where is this?

haha didn't even notice that

Is this game really that bad???

[–]Matech 1

Imagine going to a massive theme park that was packed with various merry go rounds of different appearances.

How long before your bored?

originally Sean Murray wanted us to pay about 20 cents for each planet included. since there are so many GameStop wouldn't let him do this. so I think we really got a bargain on this game. I've been telling people it's the new Mass Effect.

If it were 20 cents per planet visited it might be worth it, since there's only about 10 really different types of planets anyway. $2 for an unfinished tech demo in Early Access sounds about right.

It doesn't matter how much ME went wrong at the end, this is nowhere near in the same vicinity.

Edit: ME = Mass Effect.

It doesn't matter how much ME went wrong at the end, this is nowhere near in the same vicinity.

Don't be so hard on yourself Champ!

The ending was the worst part about ME. The storytelling, the universe itself, and the mysterious way you are introduced to it are uniquely amazing and set a new standard for Sci-Fi games.

You are comparing an fantastic storydriven 3 part game like Mass Effect with an empty game about walking around on similar looking planets for no reason? Wow.

Lol damn this is crazy. I was thinking of getting this

"Endless hours of fun, infinite universes with all the same content"
And this is why I prefer star citizen even though it "only" has 100 or so star systems, but all of them truly unique and hand-crafted. They also make use of some procedural generation, but they use it as a tool, and the systems are still all unique.
People didn't understand my reasoning, maybe they do now.

Is that game really that much of a disappointment?

Watch e3 footage of no mans sky, look at a lot of what sean murray is saying you can do in the game, then compare it to what you can do in the live version that's being sold.

I'll give you a hint. None of it is in the game.

thanks... not a gamer.

but the hate for this title is reaching regular people like me.

seems the hate is not due to the game being bad but rather expectations being so high.

Refunded, can confirm would refund again.

Got a full refund from Amazon. Fuck this game!

Why do I get the feeling that these are beginning to be JB HiFi ads?

I miss JB HiFi from when I lived out in Aus. I don't miss their prices, but sarcasm game is on point.

Do the refunded refunded bought games get a bigger discount? How many refunds does a game have to happen before it's considered $5, because i'll wait for that.

Holy cow games are expensive there. (I know its NZD but it's still damn high)

Was this game really that bad the concept before it came out seem kinda cool

What store is this? I saw a post of Witcher 3 GOTY edition in the same store

They are not actually planning on selling it

[–]pm_me_ur_grandad 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

I couldn't get a refund :(

Is this in the US because if so 94 bucks is outrageous.

When I see shit like that i come to think that the cheap game prices among 100/100 Mbit internet for 6 bucks and mobile LTE for 5 bucks are the only things that are good in Russia where I live. This, and Uber rides for 3-5$, yeah... Steam games are 25$ max.

I know this is New Zealand (from the All Blacks game below), but $94 is still a lot in New Zealand Dollars.

I'll admit I haven't played console games in a while, but do PS4 games really go for $90-120???? good lord

New Zealand I'm guessing.

Hmm, I really want to say something positive in the native tongue. Here goes: "JB Yuv dunnit gen bru"

I can't help but feel sorry for them sheep pleasers.

I thought we were getting screwed on the PS4/XBONE prices. (EBGames would have you believe their higher than mrrp is a bargain, worse they manage it most of the time)

Holy shit. How much is the Aussie dollar nowadays??????

1 AUD is 0.77 USD. 120 AUD is roughly 90 USD.

I'm the only one I know that got denied a refund on this game through steam. Maybe putting "you know why" as the reason wasn't the best idea...

$119 FOR A RUGBY GAME! Oh, this is that New Zealand tax BS.

them putting that sign up would almost convince me to buy it, just because that is HILARIOUS. i don't have a PS4 or much interest in the game, but...yeah. 10/10 would feel warm and fuzzy about a company being in on the "joke" again.

I can't wait for this to go wayyyy down in price. I'm going to for-sure pick it up for $10 when it's available.

Was here for the every day anti NMS circlejerk thread on /r/gaming. Not disappointed, you guys really like that stuff eh?
