You could send me one of the seeds, I load it into my Trezor. You could then submit the payment proposal. I could go first, and then you could sign with the second key? Would that work?

Edit: This would only be good if you don't have any other bitcoin in the Trezor seed.

I would be happy to do this if it would work.

Unfortunately Copay doesn't allow one to sign payment proposals with arbitrary wallets. It's rather intuitive, and a bit hard to explain, but if the Copay instance hasn't "joined" the multisig wallet (using Copay magic) it cannot sign payment proposals - even if it is using the same seed/keys/address.

In addition I can only "join" the multisig wallet as one of the principal Trezors (due to the nature of my backups), so the UI is preventing me (or you) from signing as any additional seeds.

A workaround to this would be great!

Would any of the tools at coinb.in be helpful? I know you can create multisig wallets and create raw transactions. This one for example creates a multisig wallet.

Maybe you could use it to try to recreate the same multisig address that your coins are stuck in? I'm not sure, just a thought.

Edit: Yeah, I think you should try sticking your three xpubs in this coinb.in tool and then use the "redeem script" that it outputs in the New Transaction tab.

I've actually crafted a transaction using Electrum spending the coins. Just need to sign it.

So in other words, starting from xpubs I can generate the appropriate addresses etc and make transactions. I just need a way to sign them.

I was testing creating them on coinb.in, I think you should try recreating it there. If you put the redeem script in the "new transaction" tab, it sets it up so that you can make and sign a transaction.

I'll play with this tonight.

Yeah, you should. I made a random multisig with three xpubs then tried to make a transaction. It tells you the keys you need to sign with. I didn't finish the process because I was messing with an empty address, but I think it might work for you.

I'm going to bed. I hope you figure it out.

Currency of the future...

Okay, I'm kind of understanding what the problem is ... I'll keep thinking.

"I only have a backup of the Copay metadata from a single copayer."

This should be your first sentence as it would prevent most people to read further.

I have all the private keys which made the multisig address. The funds aren't lost, they are just obstructed by UI.

I need someone to help me manually sign a transaction, and navigate HD wallet key derivations. Not impossible, and possibly fun for the right person.

Edit: I added that info in the second paragraph, though, so its clear as you read.

Those multisig addies... Nothing but trouble :|

You posed yesterday too! Is there an opinion behind the comments, or just poking fun at me. (deservedly)

I have never heard any negative arguments regarding multisig.

opinion behind the comments

Multisig addies add another layer of complexity, another opportunity to do it rong. If you (and you seem more savvy than most) and BFX can mess it up, what of Granny and uncle Jed?
