As a man begins to understand more of MGTOW, and follows more of its most vocal proponents, he will become aware of a divide existing between the MGTOW movement and the Mens Rights Movements. A divide which can seem quite hostile on both sides between followers of either mens movements. While these divides will obviously go far deeper than what will be presented here, only the basic differences and opposing thoughts will be covered. More information about this topic can be found from the leading advocates in each movement.
The main difference between the Mens Rights Movement and MGTOW is that the followers of the MRM continue full association with women, including marriage and children, as well as promotes other men to also continue normal relationships with women, as men are also advised and guided into understanding of the innate nature of women, and in their campaigning for laws to be changed in respect to marriage, child support, alimony, and in other areas to do with the interactions between men and women, in which laws exist which are prejudicial and detrimental to men.
The MRM also seems to have various leaders and adhere to the doctrines of those leaders.
Whereas the MGTOW men refuse marriage to women, refuse most association with women, some will still have intimacy or low level relationships with women; while other MGTOW men will stop all association with women altogether, and sometimes go to great lengths not to have any interaction with them. The MGTOW movement believes the entire system is so misandrist and so broken now that it cannot be fixed and must collapse under it own weight of corruption. So MGTOW men do not fight the system, and do not protest the system… they walk away from the system. Which means they stop marrying, stop having children, or stop having relationships with women. They refuse to participate in the system due its immense anti-man nature, and due to the perception that all interactions with women now are too dangerous and too risky for men.
Each MGTOW is free to have their own set of opinions about anything to do with MGTOW, each will follow a slightly different path to another man. As long as a man has walked away from the system and in following any kind of long term relationship with women, he is basically free to call himself MGTOW.
Therefore it follows that there are no leaders within MGTOW, only individual men and voices.
These are my own best understandings of these key differences between MGTOW and the MRM.
Hostility Between MGTOW and The MRM
There is a noticeable hostility between some men in both of these camps.
Some of it is personal based, with bad blood from earlier times.
Individual men from both MGTOW and MRM can often vehemently disagree with each others tactics, motivations, and beliefs. Disagreements do occur and can escalate between men within each camp, and each can often try to discredit the other side.
A general MGTOW view seems to be that of walking away. From the MRM and women also.
Whereas there can be some within the MRM who seem to deliberately try to discredit MGTOW or try to usurp the meaning of the word MGTOW into a new meaning, which is more aligned with the MRM, or to another meaning than the generally held consensus of what it means to be MGTOW.
Regardless of who is doing what first and who is then responding and defending, and for whatever purpose, fighting does go back and forth between the two groups. Every so often we do notice yet another volley from one side to the other, and there is no reason to think that it would ever be any different, especially as MGTOW continues to explode in its growth.
While the hostility can be brutal amongst the volleyers from each side, it may be fair to guess that the majority of men interested in all mens rights will stay completely neutral in these disagreements. Taking the ideas and information they need for their own lives and understandings from both MGTOW advocates and from the Men Rights Movement advocates.
This arguing does allow the silent majority of participants in mens rights (not meaning MRM) to sit back and take in the character of each side in this debating, as it can give us a good understanding of who is who and what each debater really stands for in their own ideologies.
