It's a great piece, but most liberals won't bother reading it, and the ones who do will be too stupid and arrogant to understand it.

And if liberals see how conservatives talk about them, they have a reason not to listen. Just as much name calling on both sides. They suck.

Ew, I stop reading anything as soon as it starts quoting Paul Ryan.

Your loss, this is a great essay.

Not that I am a fan of the spineless Paul Ryan. But he used to talk the talk, before he failed to walk the walk.

So dramatic. Most of us don't want an extreme communistic or libertarian society. The free market and collective action through government are both beneficial and every side argues for what they think is the appropriate balance. Taxes aren't going away and spending more (or more efficiently) on health, education, and housing doesn't threaten your liberty much more than taxes for the military, police, courts, prisons, roads, etc. The fight over what is a fair taxation system will never end and I understand that you'll disagree with taxing the rich so heavily. But these liberty arguments against social spending don't persuade me.
