This astronaut-looking guy does not like it one bit.

Most people in the background look disgusted.

That's half because 9/11's cousin/brother, challenger disaster, is just out of frame.

Is this for real? Do you have a link to the costume?

How do you know that? We must know!!

Guy on the far-right has my expression for this.

"I get it, but fuck you"

They aren't even twins.

There were these really tall twin athletes at my high school and the backs of their team sweat shirts said "twin tower" on them. I'm still not sure how they got away with that.

David Robinson and Tim Duncan used to be called that in like the mid 90s on the Spurs. probably just a reference to that and not 9/11. Hopefully lol

But 9/11 happened in 2001! Are you saying they were in on it?

David Robinson did go to a naval academy...It was an inside job after all

It happened five years ago dumbass

You could be right, but since 9/11 happened that's a pretty easy mistake to make lol

My brother's fiance's twin siblings have over 18" height and 100lbs difference between them. It happens.

come wear that to nycc

nycc

New York City, Cunts.

Yeah, they'd probably get assaulted by someone in the middle of the street and mugged for everyhing they had.

Oh, and once the attacker noticed the costumes I'm sure they'd get offended as well.

New York community college?

I'm not even from the US and I'd fucking go them.

The barbie dolls hanging off them is probably what makes me the most upset.

Yeah, I'm not patriotic at all, but I don't mock a tragedy regardless of if my government is responsible or not. Fuck those people.

I'm not even American, and rarely offended, but I find this appalling.

The Barbies really did it for me. I saw that shit live in high school. People are literally jumping out of a building knowing they will die because they had to make the choice of whether to burn to death or die from falling. I mean, I joke about terrible shit, but this isn't making light of it ... these people are just cunts.

Yeah I feel like this wouldn't even do well in r/imgoingtohellforthis, it's terrible, I think everything should be made fun of, but this is terrible.

Yeah, the barbies definitely took it to that level.

Yeah this was me too. I was 17, taking a day off school (just because) and watching people fall to their death on TV. On the other side of the world. It was horrific. Even my detached edgy wannabe-communist anti-American teenage self was crying.

I think they must be too young to understand what it was like when it happened.

No, this isn't them masking any feelings they have about it. They're simply attention-seeking twats.

I saw that shit live in college. I must be more jaded and evil than you

I'm British and i find this ungentlemanly behaviour.

You don't even have to be patriotic to recognize this. It was a fucking world tragedy. People from 61 other countries died in those attacks

Sure, but look st events like the Indian Ocean tsunami. Killed around a 100 times more, across a massive area and many different countries. 911 is so pervasive because it happened in America and triggered bloody and to some pointless wars.

It's so persasive because it was a deliberate terrorist attack, not a mostly unavoidable natural disaster.

Well, there are other horrific and pretty large scale terrorist attacks over the past 15-20 years that noone even mentions. Remember the russian school hostage thing where like 200-300 kids were killed? The bombing/hostage taking campaign of the chechens that ended up in the cinema siege? God knows how many thousands dead to terrorist attacks in Iraq. The difference is that its basically the second time modern America has been a victim and with how American centric and fear mongering the media has become its just not going to leave the public psyche and be a thing in the past for a while now.

None of those other terrorist attacks changed so much though. 9/11 was shocking, as you said, one of the few times in living memory a superpower has been under threat and in such an unexpected way. The attacks ushered in major changes in security and geopolitics; it hasn't left the public psyche because it still affects the public.

Well of course it was because it happened in America.

9/11 was felt like an attack on the entire west, I'm Italian and I remember my parents being sad and worried and I guess this was a common sentiment around Europe.

Still watching stuff about 9/11 makes me sad and angry, Americans died but we all felt it and we still do.

To be honest, I never understood the classic "Yeah, but other people die around the world and nobody cares".

This is shitty, other tragedies are awful, but it's normal to care especially about the ones that hit our people I guess.

When France got attacked everyone was sad here, same goes for Belgium etc, because it hit people that in a way are close to us.

A tragedy happening in Nigeria, for example, as shitty as it is, it's not gonna hit us the same way because it happens to people we don't really have a relationship with.

And we do this even in our common lives, we cry for relatives and friends but we don't for people we don't know or that are not close to us.

    It's normal.

If this was at a private costume party it would just be average 'edgy' humor. But this being done in public at a con seems... odd. Like, why?

Hopefully they dont get into any altercations because some people can/will take that shit personally.

I cant imagine someone wearing an Eiffel Tower or a 'Pulse' outfit. Thats just as bad taste as this, just more recent.

    Thanks giving

If it makes you feel better I have worked the past 4 years and have not participated.

"Omg we're so edgy!" Fucking losers.

I laugh at 9/11 jokes in some context, but I have no idea what they could possibly be thinking to do something like that so publicly. I hope they regret that shit when they grow up a little.

    Wow. Fuck those people.

Looks like God already did with those faces of theirs

I bet that guy behind them is with them, they all look like the same kind of people.

I wouldn't fuck them with a rental dick.

I would if the rental dick had syphillis.

I'd run them over with the rental whip tho

This is the difference between Americans and Brits I think.

After Diana died, after 7/7, after Lee Rigby and other things I have seen people dressed up as hideous recreations of those events and the reaction has been largely one of 'HA, fucking wow' rather than 'wow, fuck those people'. A lot of people respond in a 'Jesus Christ mate, that's too much' way, but very few would get angry. And the ones that did would be 'Hugh Mungus' sort of people who just enjoy being offended.

I think it's quite clear these people aren't Jihadists who think the attack was justified or morally acceptable and I'm sure they're just as disgusted with it as the majority of Americans. Humour is humour. We have to allow people to use humour.

If they were at a 9/11 family memorial dressed that way, yes, fuck them. But an event like that should be fair game for anything off-colour.

    [–]the_murder_of_crowe 38ポイント39ポイント  (2子コメント)

I have a dark, inappropriate sense of humor too, but you really have to know your audience with something like that.

I can laugh at 9/11 humor. Lots of people can't and I certainly don't blame them. I mean, it's a free country fine whatever, but many would say that's a dick move and they wouldn't be wrong about it.

The tastelessness of it in the environment where everyone is apalled and upset makes it better tho. Without that contrast its a dumb joke.

Laughing at a joke is one thing, but making the joke is a different kind of responsibility. If it only causes hurt to your audience instead of delight, it's a pretty shitty joke.

Why do the dolls have no clothes on?

Needs all the edge it can get.

    Wow. Fucking cunts.

That's past trashy, the edgy fucktards.

Those are buildings from the game Rampage... no?

It hasn't even been 22.3 years.

Saw these guys today and my wife and I just couldn't believe two things: 1) how tasteless this is and 2) that people were actually giving them attention, good or bad.

Ignore them. They want negative attention and reacting to their display just reinforces that behavior. It wasn't clever and it wasn't good. It was just pathetic.

Public shaming is a tried and true method that has been used by societies for centuries to get people to not act like assholes. People who act like assholes are banking on the fact that they won't have to answer for themselves because most people avoid confrontation. When they do get confronted, they usually back down pretty quickly.

Is that a make america great again hat?

It's a spoof hat. It does not say "America".

Just curious, does anyone know what it says? i can't make it out

Not gonna say a good 9/11 and joke isn't funny but the sheer edge coming over these guys is disgusting

What is like to know is what the acceptable amount of time is to make a joke like this? If they had dressed up as the titanic then it probably wouldn't have got a second glance. I'm pretty sure it'll be at least 50 years before you could do something like this

At least as long as required so that no one in your company personally remembers it happening.

I saw these two tonight, they had an arrogant "shocked" tone when people didn't find it funny. They pretty much got a bunch of head shaking and passive aggressive cursing when passing by people.

Put those costumes on and take a subway ride on the A train around 5:15pm from 168th to Brooklyn. Let me know how you make out.

They pulled this shit in atl?

And they made it out? What.

    Morons the both of them

    What do their hats say?

    "something something great again"?

They are making fun of trump and 9/11.

    "Make Presidents Great Again"

Yea I was trying to figure that out also.

    Make Presidents Great Again

Okay, so a Trump hat and an oblique (and pretty tasteless) reference to George W. Bush's presidency.

Hahaha I saw these two walking down the street earlier today outside the marriot. It took me a minute to realize what their costume was. Of all the crazy dragoncon things I've seen, this definitely took the trashy top spot. But just barely.

It's in poor taste but it's nothing to get riled up about.

seriously. i've seen much worse holocaust pictures and people on this site still joked and laughed at it. but now pretending to be all sensitive.

911 is just not something America is going to get over for a long time for some reason. It's been 15 years and is still such a sore topic.

The fact that there are really shit people on reddit who laugh at human misery doesn't excuse other people doing it also.

It's probably a good lesson to edgelords who write off people's feelings as irrelevant, but I think it's a fair cop that this costume will upset a lot of people who remember those events and therefore won't see a funny side to it.

The point is that it is trashy.

The Barbie falling is too much. Seals them as total douchebags

Wow.. I'm not Americans but fuck those people are huge shit heads... Seriously wtf

    This is absolutely fucking tasteless.

    Takes guts to wear that.

    You misspelled 'stupidity'.

Somebody should beat the shit out of them, to add that extra touch of realism.

I'd like to see someone run in with their arms out like an airplane & just Terry Tate their asses.

    Solid Office Linebacker reference.

I'm all for free speech but this is just in poor taste and is intentionally trying to get a rise out of people

Anyone else spot the Doctor Who fan in the background?

At first I thought they were trashcan cosplay.

And "make America great again" caps. Well, they're going all out on offensive, so we know they're not quitters

I think its funny, not nearly as funny as all the americans getting triggered in these comments lmao.

Especially the ones threatening bodily harm

Looks like Winter Soldier took a lil' to much needed time off after CA: CW. Plus the the shit twins need to be shown what sense entails.

Honestly I think this is so offensive and tasteless it's just hilarious, like wearing black face or Catholic priest rape humor. It's making fun of real, earnest tragedies

9/11 jokes are fine and all, but this is taking it too far.

I didn't even know cosplays could be in that bad taste. Attention grabbing assholes.

It is what it is, oh well.

Some lines just should not be crossed. That is beyond unacceptable.

Since it's safe to assume that they haven't killed anyone themselves, I'm struggling to give a shit.

Right, because it's not trashy unless you've actually murdered someone. /s

That's a special kind of social douchefaggery.

I think most of Reddit will laugh at dark humor, some would even appreciate a well crafted 911 joke, but know the limits of decency.

the dude on the right looks like mang0's evil twin

    I think its hilarious

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they were Westboro baptist church members or some other fringe redneck religious group that snuck in and wanted to get as much attention as possible so news sites and people on social media can go: "OMG can u believe this?!" and get traffic for their shitty website. They often picket these conventions and annoy people there.

    She looks actually retarded.

I'm sure if you ask them they can give you a perfectly valid reason for their costume and what they are protesting.

    Critical Theory is lazy.
