After 37 hrs and finally getting everything maxed out I kinda didn't care. The Atlas path hasn't really intrigued me at all so I just stopped playing.

After 2 hours I got bored of it. But Steam wont issue me a refund because I spend 4 hours trying to fix this broken ass game. 6 hours total, two hours of actual gameplay. No refund.

Well you knew steams refund policy before going in.

So multiplayer is the only thing that can really extend the life of this game? I put the game to bed after about 25 hours. Same reasons as you. Even if they added some more story or lore I don't think I'd go back. I can only see myself going back if they add co-op or multiplayer. But my mates have either sold the game or got steam refunds. So I'd be on my own either way. NMS has been like a shooting star. Interesting and beautiful for a short time but then it's gone. Lol.

even if they implement multiplayer in the future, which i doubt they will, i think it will be of very little use, simply because of the nature of the game.

Let me make a few humble suggestions.

First, never grind any game. If it's not fun don't do it.

Second, I have found NMS is a very easy game to not grind but you need to ignore a bunch of "helpful" things. The beacons, transmitters, observatories, etc that are supposed to find things for you, actually drive you into grinding. I don't use them. I have discovered there are huge amounts of things that they hurry you past when they help you. Just cruising along at low altitude, watching the terrain and swooping in to land by anything that looks interesting is very relaxing.

Third, there is no rush. There is nothing and no one we need to beat within a time limit in this game. Nothing wrong with taking a day, days, a week off and play again when you feel like it.

Take care, enjoy.

This comment has made me genuinely excited to play this again.

It was this sort of gameplay that got me excited for the game pre-hype, then again when it first came out, but before long I was sucked into feeling it was a bit of a grind.

The game needs some updates for sure (the autopilot/bumpercar feel to the flying, for a start, it really sucks you're prevented from ever feeling like you're flying inches from the ground, ducking in and out of canyons), but I guess it's important to remember what it does well and to take the time to get deep into each planet, focusing on discoveries and finding cool stuff!

This could have been written by me shortly before a memory wipe session.

Sadly I can't see the next two or three updates being enough to make this game enticing enough to bring most people back except for half an hour or so to check them out.

I'm feeling much of the same as well. I've done/completed everything except Gek/Atlas languages and actually making it to the center. Starting us 175k light years from the center is a huge mistake, IMO.

Got the 48 suit, the 48 ship, the 24 gun, Atlas Path completed, 10's on everything on the journey path ... but still 160k light years from the center...

Sharing the same experience, maxed everything, completed the atlas, and most of the milestones. But im not waiting 2realtime hours of warping animation to the centre. It makes no sense for me.

I hope they will create something worthwhile out of NMS. But I moved on for now as well

Honestly: how many biomes do you think Titan has? Venus? Pluto?

I feel like people don't really appreciate how utterly rare Earth truly is. Like, all this complaining because HG promised a mind-bendingly detailed Universe simulation and somehow everyone took that to mean he was selling us 18 quintillion Earthlike planets.

Dafuq, guys?
