The papers are saying we might sign Griezman next. There are also links to Fabinho and Varane

We wouldn't go into a season with an incomplete squad. We'll look at how players perform this year and use that to decide who we buy next year. There's no way the papers know who we're targetting

With regards to the policy though, I'd say we'll promote the occasional youth player but will be more focussed on buying a big money player for a position we're lacking in

We should buy big name players. As for our youth, I think we should do what Barcelona did with its La Masia graduates. Players like Jordi Alba, Cesc Fabregas, and Pique were sold and given a chance to prove themselves elsewhere before being bought back by Barca. And to prevent another Pogba situation we should also put buy-back clauses, like the one Madrid did with Morata, in the contracts of academy players we sell in the future.

Our youth is obviously important. Going forward I'd rather sign one big star for 60m+ and fill the rest of the team with youngsters. That way we're improving the line-up and making it easier for the youngsters on the fringes to settle in. That was basically how Pep did it with Barca.

In 08-09 he brought in Alves for huge money, promoted Busquets and Bojan and brought Pique back. Next year he brought in Ibra whilst promoting Jeffren and Pedro. Next year David Villa in and promoted Nolito, Fontas and Thiago. Pep's final year was a double major signing with Fabregas and Alexis and promoting Cuenca, Tello and Montoya.

All the meanwhile clearing out fringe La Masia products from the team.

That's what I want, a big signing every year and a couple of new guys in the senior team getting 10+ games. As we progress we should be clearing out the likes of Rojo, Darmian, Mata, Romero, Fellaini, Schneiderlin etc and replacing them with out own boys.

There's needs to be a balance. I don't want to be Real signing galactico after galactico and ignoring their own prospects, I don't want to be Chelsea filling the squad with 25 random guys bought for 30m+ and I don't want to be Arsenal putting all their faith in their youth.

we have a solid base now

Extremely debatable. This side have proven nothing, we've played 3 games.

Should we just sign the best available, should we invest more in youth now considering we have a solid base now or should we make it a mix a match policy were we buy one top player each year and bring in youth fron the academy ?. (hoping mou gives them the chance they deserve ).

I feel like so many fans on here don't seem to appreciate the number one priority which is winning titles and being the best club in world football.

We are not Athletic Bilbao, we're not some middling club just looking to be around the UCL spots and bring through a load of kids.

We want to be the best.

We should always be on the hunt for top players who are better than what we have and will improve us and always be in the market for elite level footballers be they 17 or 27.

At the same time we should have a top class academy looking to bring through players.

But don't lose sigh of the priority which is winning, not to bring kids through.

I'd say rather win the title with a bunch of stars than finish third with lots of kids from the youth team.
