A lack of creature collision detection is the most frustrating exclusion for me.

I don't know if it's possible to fix, but if it it needs to be done asap. No game should ship without basic collision detection.

It's not strange. Ragdoll is probably built into their physic engine, but reactions between animating objects that are even remotely realistic when they collide are hard.

That's why Euphoria was such a huge deal in GTAIV. It was pretty much the first time we saw realistic physical reactions without the NPC just going full dead/ragdoll.

I love GTA V, but IV definitely had a more well-rounded physics engine. I think they both use Euphoria, but V didn't have it where you could push people around just by walking into them. Pushing them down stairs was so great, and the fights were more realistic, too. If you didn't have a gun, 3-4 guys could really fuck you up in a melee brawl. The one punch knockouts of GTA V were fun at first, but the more immersive fights of IV were better imo.

Even with Euphoria, the physics of entities sitting on top of each other breaks down pretty quickly when one of them starts moving. It's very difficult to make that work correctly.

killing flying creatures is the easiest way to scan them (because their rag doll falls to the ground and doesn't move so it's easy to scan). Get the Homingbolt upgrade for your multi-tool and it's trivially easy to kill flying creatures (-8

I understand that, but these big eels creatures I've never been able to kill. Despite shooting them constantly with my mining weapon. Maybe it was a glitch? Most birds drop instantly, but I zapped these guys for a good minute or so while hoping to get a screenshot of them on the ground.

Those ones might have been glitched, but I can definitely confirm they are kill-able. Easiest to use the mining laser on them though, you'll never hit them with a caster.

The melee animation produces a sound-effect whether you connect with something or not, so just curious how you know it connected. If it killed it, then that pretty much settles it.

Actually i should rephrase this, I'm pretty sure i've hit (and killed) a couple of creatures while melee-jetting, i very often smash through small plants and receive carbon, on doing this i hear the sound of hitting something and i see that i received carbon.

On a couple of occasions when i've been doing this, as i receive carbon i've seen something fly out in front of me at an angle, as this doesn't happen when i hit plants, i assume i'd just killed something

Edit 2: No link sorry, just recorded twice and when i viewed it back, the screen goes black when the game opens, its recorded sound but not video.

Just killed 3 creatures with melee though, one was docile, one was fearful and the other was anxious, also managed to piss off a sentinel and get it to attack me by meleeing it, a health bar never appeared though

If you want to ride sea creatures, get Abzu. You can swim with dolphins and other creatures. There's also a meditation mode which is create to show during a party - a $20 aquarium
