Summer 2016 Tier Review! (self.reddevils)

At /r/reddevils we have a fantastic tier system to understand the reliability of sources. Lower the tier, higher the reliability.

Some sources on the tier system come under discussion, stating some are unreliable, some more reliable than they let on.

If you think you have a case for a source changing tier based on our summer window, discuss it here and it may be changed for future windows.

Current tiers:

Tier IndyKaila This guy is worse than an unknown entity. In fact, his Twitter account is so bad, that Russia considered making a Space Station out of it.

I think Skysports as a website (without a journalist) should be Tier 3 because this summer they've been about as reliable as the Mirror.

I think they should be taken on a journalist by journalist basis with tweets etc and any article that isn't specified as to the journalist etc should be Tier 3.

this is probably the best way to address the Sky issue,i don't know how much of a hassle it would be for the mods though.

Yeah I was thinking that as I was typing it. There could be hundreds of them!

An alternative approach would be having the reliable journalists as Tier 2 and everyone else as Tier 3 to slowly either prove or disprove their reliability.

Pretty much impossible for the site itself. For the guys own Twitter or personal site it's fine. But there's no way for the automod to detect the name of the writer.

I disagree, a lot of people want to change Skysports for the sake of changing something kind of like when there was so much support for removing the downvote button, it's fine the way it is.

They've gotten more gossipy but I still get more excited when Skysports reports something than most sources. Tier 3 sources are removed from r/reddevils/new for being too unreliable. "Sky sources" tweets shouldn't be removed

Agree with this. L'Equipe should be Tier 2 - Tier 1 should be stuff that's essentially nearly as official as from the mouth of Mourinho and L'Equipe got stuff right on Pogba but also quite a lot wrong.

of course they aren't a bad source hence am saying Tier 2, but i feel that doing things like saying he's having a medical and even claiming the deal is done almost a month before it was actually done makes them not worthy of Tier1.

L'Equipe and Sport1 should not be Tier 1. COPE should be Tier 1. Luckhurst is a dickhead but he shouldn't be tier 5, tier 3 would be fair. Taylor and SER at Tier 3 really is harsh too. SER broke the Bailly deal and Taylor was the first to say Pogba was our main target this window and kept harping on about it even when it seemed like a fantasy.

Sport1 & Bild should be tier 3 imo, lots of Germans/Bundesliga fans at r/soccer pointed that out before. And as much as I hate it, Castles should move to Tier 3, considering his ties to José's camp.

Sport Witness shouldn't really be in this Tier system at all. They don't try and break transfer news and are pretty good at getting to the source of a rumour and working out how credible a story is. They are the sane person in a room full of nutters, well they keep me sane during the transfer window anyway.
